The Voice’s Chris Blue Drops Debut Single ‘Blue Blood Blues’ (AUDIO)

The Voice season 12 winner Chris Blue has dropped his debut single “Blue Blood Blues.” The Republic Records release is available for download and streaming everywhere, including at iTunes and Amazon.

After the R&B singer took the crown last spring, his coach Alicia Keys stayed involved with his career as manager and producer.  The song, a simmering ballad, feels both retro and modern and capitalizes on the powerful, emotion laden performances Chris delivered on the show.

The song is described in a press release as a “deeply personal anthem about triumph in the face of adversity,” that “properly introduces his unique genre-blending style of pop, soul and R&B.” Chris’ album is due out in 2018 with Alicia Keys as the creative director.

As fans of The Voice know, Republic Records treatment of The Voice winners have been spotty.  If a singer even has the opportunity to release an album, the promotion is often non-existent. With an assist from Coach Alicia, Chris released his first single in a timely manner.

But will his team take it to the next step? What kind of radio promotion can Chris expect? With the Christmas holiday coming up fast, there will be no opportunity to promote the song until January. We’ll see where Team Alicia takes Chris’s career next.

Listen to Chris Blue’s debut single “Blue Blood Blues” here. He’s set to perform the song LIVE on next week’s The Voice finale.
