The Voice UK 2019 Blind Auditions 4 Recap and Live Blog (VIDEOS)

The Voice UK Blind Auditions continue today (Jan 26) from 3 PM EST/8 PM GMT to 4:30 PM EST/9:30 GMT.

Tom Jones, Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am are set to return to the coaches panel, along with host Emma Willis.  The new twist this season is Trios. For the first time, groups of three will be able to audition alongside solos and duos.

Eden Kavanagh – ‘They Just Keep Moving The Line’ from Smash by Megan Hilty – 24 year old Barista from Dublin, originally New Zealand. She’s been singing since she was a  little girl. Her mom has come all the way from NZ to support her. She’s a Broadway/Jazz singer. Very niche. And a little screechy? Will someone turn? Nope. No turns. Surprised they kicked off the show with a no turn!

Callum Butterworth – ‘Mercy’ by Shawn Mendes – 17 year old from Halifax. Music has helped him get over his shyness. He has a really nice tone. His stage presence is kind of clunky.  When he hits a big note, showing off his range, Olly hits his button. That’s good. Olly and him will be a good fit. Callum calls it the best moment of his life so far. Olly compliments him on choosing a hard song. Will gives him props for putting his fears aside. Team Olly

Stefan Mahendra – ‘Redbone’ by Childish Gambino – 23 year old from London.  He’s been playing and singing since he was a kid. He plays in a band called Proud Sugar. Lots of weddings. He’s ready  to go to the next level. His band has his back. He starts off in a falsetto before switching to a head voice and back again. It’s kind of sexy. He yelps a big note which has Olly hitting his button, which annoys Jennifer who hit her button first. The band joins him on stage. They sit in with the house band. Stefan plays piano and sings “Crazy.” Olly throws his shoes. Jennifer chases him around with hers (Stealing her ideas!).  Stefan wonders who else is on Jennifer’s team. Nobody like you, she says. Olly promises to take Stefan and his band on tour. Stefan chooses Team Olly.

Robin Martin – ‘You Gotta Be’ by Des’ree – 41 year old pet store owner from Northern Ireland. The pet store is his mom’s. He took over when she became ill. He’s married with two kids. Interesting song choice. I kind like his tone. He’s different. No big notes or dramatic moments, so that could hurt him. And nobody turns. The coaches felt he wasn’t strong or confident enough. – No Turns

Jack Morlen – ‘Scared To Be Lonely’ by Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa – 23 year old from London. He was a member of a vocal band that saw some success, but it wasn’t enough. The failure messed with his confidence. He has a sweet tone and emotional delivery, but sadly it’s just not enough. I would have given that kid a chance, to be honest. Now he must be gutted.  The panel has some second thoughts. – No Turns

Ilianna – ‘Location’ by Khalid – 21 year old Estate agent from Purley. She lives at home with her family. They’re half Indian Half Greek. She loves her day job, but her heart is in music. She’s very modern! Will, unsurprisingly is the first and ultimately the only one to hit his button. But it’s who she wanted. Iliana is happy. Team Will

Craig Forsyth – ‘The Impossible Dream’ by Andy Williams – 28 year old community nursing assistant from Scotland. His biggest audience was in a karaoke bar. In sharp contrast to Ilianna, this song choice is very very old fashioned.  At the very last minute, Jennifer hits her button. I was expecting Tom, if anybody, actually.  Tom says he already has four “fellas” or he would have hit his button. Will compliments Craig for pushing through to the very end – Team Jennifer

Bethzienna Williams – ‘Cry To Me’ by Solomon Burke – 28 year old musician from South Wales. Her mom is one of 11 kids. It’s been tough trying to make a living as a musician. She’s given herself a timeline.  She’s got an Amy Winehouse thing going. She’s very soulful, but modern too. She’s good! Who is going to turn? Jennifer hits her button at the last minute.  She says Dirty Dancing is one of her favorite movies. Tom has sung that song before, so he stands up and they sing a duet. Maybe he’ll steal her during the battles! – Team Jennifer

Roger Samuels – ‘Footprints in the Sand’ by Leona Lewis – 43 year old pastor from London. He was in a choir in his father’s church. He met his wife in church–they have 8 kids. Roger has a big beautiful voice. Tom is the first to turn. They’re voices are kind of similar, actually.  Jennifer turns next. On the last line, Roger bursts into tears. The kiddos all come out on stage. Everyone is crying! Jennifer could tell he was singing with a purpose. He explains how his family pushes him.  Roger chooses Team Tom
