The Voice UK 2019 Blind Auditions 3 Recap and Live Blog (VIDEOS)

The Voice UK Blind Auditions continue today (Jan 12) from 3 PM EST/8 PM GMT to 4:30 PM EST/9:30 GMT.

Tom Jones, Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am are set to return to the coaches panel, along with host Emma Willis.  The new twist this season is Trios. For the first time, groups of three will be able to audition alongside solos and duos.

Luke Swatman – ‘Il Mare Calmo Della Sera’ by Andrea Bocelli – He’s 35 from Worcester. He’s a road traffic management controller by day. He’s close to his mum who has always wanted him to be a singer. He’s a solid opera singer–good tone and range. At the very last minute Olly and Jennifer hit their buttons. Olly calls him tremendous. Tom admires his falsetto. Jennifer notes the many layers in his voice. Luke admits that he’s only been singing opera for 18 months. Olly jokes that he’s sung opera for years, and then demonstrates (he’s bad). Unsurprisingly, Luke picks Team Jennifer

Christina Ellinas – ‘Lullaby’ by Sigala ft Paloma Faith – She’s a 27 year old originally from Liverpool but now living in London. She comes from a Greek Cypriot family. She’s had a ton of day jobs, including as a flight attendant. These days she plays gigs to small crowds. Christina has a pleasant tone and an impressive range. When she hits a big note, she receives her first turns. Olly loves her voice and her energy. Tom appreciated her runs. Christina mentions that Will performed in the Qantas lounge and she was there. He’s all YES I REMEMBER. Will, Tom and Olly turn. But Christina picks Team Will

Lauz – ‘A Little Less Conversation’ by Elvis – 17 year old from Essex. Dad loves the music scene, even if he knows nothing about it. She performs a slinky/rock-y version of the Elvis classic. She’s got some pitch problems throughout, which is probably why no one hits their buttons. Olly says “I should have turned.” He should have! It would have been a one chair turn with no competition. Seems to be the only way he can fill his team.

Harrisen Larner-Main – ‘Have A Little Faith In Me’ by John Hiatt – 26 year old from Weston Super Mare – He hails from a seaside town. He still lives with his mom and dad. Mom still does his laundry and cleans up after him. Sheesh. He sings with a big belting voice and nice phrasing, although he does some funky things with vowels. Good taste in music, for sure. Olly and Jennifer hit their buttons. Olly wasn’t expecting him to be so young. Olly notes he was also 25 when he competed on that other show. Jennifer says “SAME” and notes she competed on “another show” as well. Harrison chooses Team Olly

Olly mentions how his audition song “Superstition” for that “other show” changed his life. The coaches talk him into belting out a performance.

Holly Lefevre – ‘You Are The Reason’ by Calum Scott – 23 year old nursery worker from Essex. She lives with her family and 3 dogs. She has had a lifelong struggle with confidence. It takes a lot of courage for her to hit The Voice stage. She’s a decent singer, but has no confidence on stage. She has some shaky, nervous moments which is probably why nobody turns – No Turns

Jimmy Balito – ‘Higher Love’ by Steve Winwood – 23 year old from Essex is a return auditioner. It was tough to be rejected, but he feels the need to try again. Hm…that screechy falsetto should be a deal breaker. He’s got pitch problems galore. Still, Jennifer and Tom hit their buttons at the last minute. He’s crying! Olly remembers him from last time. After his first audition, he quit his job to devote all his time to working on music. Jimmy picks Team Tom

Nxt Gen 21 year old trio made up of Cian, Sonny and Joel – ‘Cry Me a River’ by Justin Timberlake – They were members of the 5 piece boy band Yes Lad, who auditioned for X Factor in 2016. (I’m a little surprised the editors left that in). They split apart from the other two members to do their own thing. The harmonies aren’t bad, they perform with a lot of energy. The girls in the audience are very enthusiastic. Will turns first, and then Olly. Will reminds them he’s celebrating 20 years of Black Eyed Peas. He knows about groups. They choose Team Will

Sarah Tucker – ‘In My Blood’ by Shawn Mendes – 34 year old mortgage broker from Essex. She lives with her husband and two young children. She started singing at 17 and devoted her early 20s to a music career. But she decided to step away to have kids. She hasn’t performed on stage in 9 years. She has a beautiful tone and impressive range. She hits some amazing big notes, but she gets no turns until the very end, where she ends up with a 4 chair turn. Olly calls her voice “Incredible.” Will says “You gave your whole soul tonight. Tom compliments her range. Jennifer is also blown away by her range. She compares her to Mariah. One of her kids join her on stage. Sarah chooses Team Jennifer
