The Voice UK Top twelve singers from Teams Jennifer Hudson, Gavin Rossdale, will.iam and Tom Jones will compete in the Quarterfinals tonight.

The judges make a grand entrance. The host introduces them as they groove around center stage.

OK. Here’s the format: The coaches will chose one of their team members to advance, and voters will chose the other 4 from any team. Each team will perform, their coach will choose a singer to advance. After all of the contestants have performed and the coaches make their picks, voting will open to choose the other four. Then, the results will be revealed.

Tanya Lacey – Team Will – Good Luck by Basement Jaxx ft Lisa Kekaula – Will says he saved her last week to give her a shot. Maybe her last shot. She co-wrote one of his songs–maybe he feels obligated. She’s kind of pitchy and the band is overwhelming her. It’s a weird song choice. But maybe it was a hit in the UK? “People are going crazy for you in twitter!” says Will. Tom calls it “Hot hot hot.” Tanya says she has never performed with dancers before.

Jason Jones – Team Will – I Feel it Coming by the Weeknd – Will is shooting a video for his song “Fiyah” and he’s inviting his team to be in the video.  Also, Will’s team appeared on Coronation Street, the popular UK soap. Credit to Will for not handing Jason a bunch of oldies. He handles the modern stuff pretty well. He’s got a good voice, even if he does not have the look. “You sound better and better to me,” says Tom. “Now your name is the whole damn week!” says Will. Gavin likes his rasp. Jennifer thinks he has a really special sound. Apparently, he’s been struggling with his voice.

Michelle John – Team Will – “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan – Hm. She’s a little worried about reaching the high notes, but she’s going for it. She’s definitely hitting the notes. And if ya’ll are into old-fashioned divas, Michelle is totally your jam. She attempts some major major high notes and really nails them. She could win this show. Will is standing on his chair. The crowd is going nuts. Will makes a few fire engine noises. “You smashed it,” he says. “That’s a voice right there,” says Tom. “Big powerful controlled.” Gavin calls her voice “insane” but she overcame fear. He admires that. “Everything about you is so likable,” says Jennifer. “You gave it to ’em right.” She was a backup singer and is tickled to finally have backup singers of her own.

It’s time for Will to choose a contestant to advance. Ugh. Will is annoying as hell. Just pick! Oh wow. He chose Jason!!! I thought for sure he’d pick Michelle. Maybe he feels confident the public will vote for her. Next up, it’s Team Tom.

Craig Ward – Team Tom – All These Things I’ve Done by The Killers – Tom understands how family can be motivation. This is a great song! His voice has a roughness to it that you either appreciate, or don’t. He’s a little all over the place here, but the performance is passionate. “That sounded powerful,” says Tom. “That almost felt like your own song,” says Jennifer. Gavin thinks Tom is a good coach (even though he turned for him). “You owned it,” he says. It’s his wife’s favorite song.

Nadine McGhee – Team Tom – A Different Corner by George Michael. Initially, Tom chooses Ghost by Ella Henderson. The choice makes Nadine nervous–she’s having problems with the high notes. Tom decides to switch the song to “A Different Corner” by George Michael. Nadine feels a little better about that. This is a beautiful, emotional song. She sounds slightly under-pitch. Maybe it’s her youth? She’s not bringing the urgency this song deserves. This is probably not the right song either. “I know you didn’t have long to learn that song…but it touched me,” says Tom. Will calls it “calming….like I was sitting by a campfire in Hawaii.” Uh. I don’t think that’s what George had in mind? Jennifer feels the singer found her footing by the end of the song. Gavin misses George Michael.

Into the Ark – Team Tom – Jealous by Nick Jonas – The one on the right with the falsetto has the best voice. He could probably do better on his own, actually. These guys have done really well so far, but this is not their best performance. “If ya’ll don’t stay in the competition, I’m leaving,” says Jennifer. “I thought you did a great job,” says Tom. “You are unique for this show.” Will compares them to Simon & Garfunkel and Hall & Oats.

The rest of Team Tom takes the stage. Tom chooses…Into the Ark. Team Gavin is next.

Max Vickers – Team Gavin – Lonely Boy by The Black Keys – Gavin invited Max to a Bush gig in London. Good song for Max. He’s totally spastic, but it works when he has the right song. The crowd loved his energetic performance. “He’s the greatest” says Gavin, “He works so hard..he brought it so heavy.” Will says he’s a fan of a lot of groups, “And I’m a fan of you.” Jennifer says, “You gave me the spirit. What is that!”

Truly Ford – Team Gavin – Golden Lights by – Ellie Golding – Gavin saved her last week because he felt she had the most “complete” performance.  Truly twirls around a phalanx of dancers. A competent performance, Truly isn’t putting her own stamp on the song. The vocal is solid, though. Better than last week. She sustains a big note. That’s how to get the audience on your side! “Truly is on another level,” says Gavin. “I didn’t know you could handle uptempo song…it was really something,” says Tom. “I love to see the enjoyment on your face…you truly came to win,” says Jennifer.

Sarah Morgan – Team Gavin – Royals by Lorde – I was completely shocked when viewers voted Sarah through on a somnolent performance of “I Will Always Love You” during the knockouts.  Gavin warns her that she has to sing with force. She falls apart when she hits the stage. She’s not finishing her phrases. Then she forgets the words. Yikes This is baaaaaaaad. So off-pitch. You could tell last week that Gavin was disappointed with the results. She’s from Scotland. Maybe they’re all voting en mass. “Nothing matters about that stuff,” says Gavin about her mess-ups, “Stay happy.” Jennifer says, “If you don’t believe it, we won’t believe it.” `Will says you can make mistakes, but you have to feel it from your heart. Sarah looks shell shocked. Scotland. Please. Put Sarah out of her misery.

It’s time for Gavin to choose! Gavin chooses Truly Ford. The UK better do the right thing and vote Max through. Last but not least, it’s Team Jennifer.

Jamie Miller – Team Jennifer – Love on the Brain by Rihanna – Will Jamie cry tonight? Probably. Another competent performance. The singer throws in vocal tricks, but he doesn’t dig into the lyrics. No sex appeal whatsoever. Jennifer brags, “We groom stars!” She loves his confidence. “I loved it,” says Tom. “You have the whole package.” Will says, “You smashed it.” Jamie’s not crying. His dad is. He admits that he didn’t have a good rehearsal.

Jack Bruley – Team Jennifer – This Love by Maroon 5 – Jennifer saved Jack in the Knockouts, despite the singer having a sub-par performance. Viewers were mad! “I cannot let Jennifer down,” Jack says. “If I don’t do a good performance, I deserve to go home.” This performance is better than last week, but it needs more punch. He’s got a good voice, but his stage presence needs some major work. “I’m just so happy seeing you up there enjoying yourself,” says Jennifer. “That’s the strongest I’ve heard you,” says Tom. “You should be so proud because you shined,” says Gavin. “No more saying you didn’t do a great job. “You were so smooth up there J” says Will.

Mo – Team Jennifer – Team Jennifer – Knocking on Heavens Door by Bob Dylan – Mo says he’s a quiet person. He uses music to express himself. If Jennifer doesn’t advance Mo, I’ll be shocked. This is the performance of the night. Mo is riveting. It’s the difference between just having a good voice and using vocal ability to tell a moving story. Mo looks dazed afterward. “I love Bob Dylan…you did a beautiful job,” says Tom. “I’m glad I don’t have to compete against you,” says Jennifer, “I swear I saw the gates of heaven open.” Gavin says Mo was the reason he agreed to do the show. “You sung the perfect song…it was amazing,” says Will.

Time for Jennifer to choose. And Jhud picks…Mo. Not a surprise. After the break…the vote opens via phone, text and app. Isn’t Team Will at a disadvantage having performed first?

While viewers vote, Clean Bandit ft Zara Larsson take the stage to sing their new single “Symphony.” After the performance…the vote closes. Ya’ll don’t even get the commercial break to vote.

Results! And UK viewers have chosen…Craig Ward from Team Tom, Max from Team Gavin, Jamie Miller from Team JHud and Michelle John from Team Will. Interesting. A singer from each team was eliminated. This week, the correct singers went home, I think. Team JHud’s Mo is the clear stunner from this bunch. I hope he wins.
