It was a big fat fail as The Voice Top 3, Tessanne Chin, Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin road atop a gaudy float in The Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, California today.
The legendary parade, now in it’s 125th year, seemed to serve as a The Voice promotional tool, as NBC hosts Hoda Kotb and Al Roker constantly promoted the float during the broadcast.
When it finally came, there was a malfunction that left the trio smiling and waving before they could finally sing a snip of winner, Tessanne Chin’s, coronation single, “Tumbling Down.” And it was only a snip of the song! Oh well. A bit of a let down.
To add insult to injury, neither Hoda nor Al knew who those people flanking Tessanne on either side were. Hoda thought Will was Adam Levine for a hot minute. Ouch! At least during the commercial break, a producer handed them the info (they should have had in the first place) allowing the hosts to identify the runner-up, Jacquie Lee and 3rd place finisher, Will Champlin.
So here ya go. All 6 minutes of The Voice on The Tournament of Roses parade. If you want to skip to the (brief) singing, it comes at the 5:30 mark.
