D.R. King – Papa Was A Rolling Stone by the Temptations – This is an odd choice for a save me song. Regardless, I like D.R. He’s got a unique style, great range. Kelly is puzzled that America would put D.R. in the bottom two.

Rayshun Lamarr – I Can’t Stand the Rain – Rayshun is a very good singer too, but he’s more flash than substance. Still, he pours so much passion into this performance, he may have it. Adam will give viewers a pass, because now they know Rayshun deserves to advance. “You are a spectacular talent…it would be a crime if this dude didn’t make it to the next week.” Adam has become an expert on how to manipulate America.

During the commercial, the vote sits at 64 vs 36 percent. Rayshun has got this. Welp. I voted for D.R. anyway.
D.R. thanks Kelly for believing in him. Adam interrupts Rayshun as he tries to thank him. “We’re going to be here next week! We’re going to be here next week!” he shouts. “Stop talking like that!”
Kelly stands up. She pulls the birthday card. “It’s my birthday! It would be horrible to make me cry. And you know I’ll cry!” Kelly adds, “HE CAN SING ANYTHING. I think people miss it. DON’T MISS IT” and then “FOR MY BIRTHDAY! FOR D.R. C’MON!”
“It’s not my birthday,” Adam admits. He says it’s shocking that either is in the Bottom 2. He apologizes for interrupting before. “I just want you to keep believing that you’re going to move on.” Adam prattles on about Rayshun’s talent and spirit. Me thinks we have some time to kill here. S.T.R.E.T.C.H the producer is probably telling him in his ear.
And America instantly saved…Rayshun Lamarr! Kelly looks crushed!
