If Childish Gambino didn’t have such a stranglehold on No. 1, Kyla Jade would probably be in the top spot right now. The speed with which she climbed the charts last night–Kyla definitely had the performance of the night with her gospelized triumph, Let it Be.
Britton Buchanan is right behind her with my personal favorite, The Rising. His moving performance of a Bruce Springsteen song never before performed on a singing show, won’t soon be forgotten.
It wasn’t one of her stronger performances, but Brynn Cartelli’s What the World Needs Now is still a favorite–highlighting that the young singer has a strong fanbase indeed. Ditto Pryor Baird who appears unable to do any wong.
And look at Kaleb Lee breaking through the Top 10 in the clutch. It’s always good for contestants to have a beloved religious hymn saved in the proverbial back pocket.
Fingers crossed that Spensha Baker manages to sneak into the Top 10 before noon. The soulful country singer delivered another strong performance last night, and it deserves the bonus.
Duet partners Jackie Foster and Rayshun Lamar have yet to crack the Top 3o. Not a good sign for either singer.
