The Voice Season 14 New Photo Art Takes Dig At American Idol

The Voice Season 14 Promo Photo

With The Voice season 14 premiering on February 26, it’s time for NBC to unveil the first promo art. The photo features newcomer Kelly Clarkson sitting alongside veteran coaches Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

But, could the tagline “America’s Favorite,” emblazoned along the bottom of the photo, be a subtle dig at American Idol which is returning to ABC on March 11? It’s true–The Voice won the ratings war by the time FOX cancelled Idol in 2016. Truth be told–few people expect that to change when the OG singing show competes directly with The Voice on Mondays for the first seven weeks on the air.

However, there’s another way to view the competition between the two reality competitions.  The Voice snagged two of American Idol’s most successful alums to sit on their panel–Jennifer Hudson last fall and now Kelly Clarkson–because their own graduates just aren’t famous enough. Maybe someday!

“It’s so fun,” Clarkson told E! News of joining the show. “I think it’s a different level of fun for me too, because I was once a contestant. Jennifer Hudson was too, so it’s been a little bit different for both of us. It’s cool, it’s full-circle.”
