Kristi Hoopes – 19 – Parker CO – Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love by Trisha Yearwood –  Sporting a floppy hat, she calls herself a country “hippie chick” She’s studying music business at a music school in Murfreesboro Tennessee. She’s got a 70’s vibe going, I’m surprised it took Blake so long to hit his button. Definitely a Loretta Lynn thing going. Oddly, Adam hits his button. And then Jennifer! Blake is irritated. Ha. Adam calls her brilliant and “not cookie cutter.” She’d be the only country singer on his team. Jhud loves her sass. Blake figures the others don’t even know who originally sang that song (they don’t). Adam insists he’ll think outside of the box, while Blake sees her as merely a country artist. Nevertheless  Kristi picks Team Blake Shelton. Oh. She refers to herself as 100% country. Nice try Adam, but you were barking up the wrong tree. – Download at iTunes

TEAM BLAKE SHELTON IS COMPLETE.

Michael Kight – 25 – Dublin GA – Sugar by Maroon 5 – His dad says he exposed Michael to all kinds of music, especially country music. Although he’s from the south, Michael considers himself a pop artist. He LOVES Maroon 5 in particular. I dunno–Adam is really picky when contestants cover his songs. It’s a big big risk. He’s doing a nice version though. It’s slower and a little bluesier than the original. Michael’s falsetto is better than Adam’s. He ain’t mad though, because Adam does turn around, pretty early on. He’s the only one who turns. It was meant to be! Adam calls his version “a cool interesting take” on the song.  “I’m super excited,” says Adam. Miley heard a lot of potential in Michael’s voice, but she’s waiting for just the right person. As if Michael would have chosen anyone other than Adam anyway… Team Adam Levine chooses Michael –  Download at iTunes

Jeremiah Miller – 18 – Fort Worth TX – Slow Hands by Niall Horan – He was a wrestler in high school. And also in a boy band. Boy band wrestler. His parents were in a Christian worship band. We see them praying together. I wonder what the rents think about Jeremiah singing a sexy song? Adam turns instantly…which I don’t get, because he’s just OK. He belongs in a boy band…as a background singer. Jennifer hits her button next. Really? Jennifer brags, once again, that she won The Voice UK. Adam scoffs. He liked some of the raw quality in Jeremiah’s voice.  The singer declares that he wants to give God all the glory. Jennifer notes that JHud Productions is all about the Christianity. Could that tip things in her direction? OH BOY. It sure does. Adam was so much the obvious choice. The perfect choice, really. But because: Hollywood Jew. No go. Team Jennifer Hudson is Full

Serina Ray – 17 – Panama City Beach FL – Stand By Me – Selena was a big influence on the young singer. She was set to go off to the Navy…until The Voice came knocking. Her dad did two tours in Vietnam. Her brother is also military–he’s a Marine. She tears up talking about him. He’s about to be deployed again. She’ll perform “Stand By Me” in both English and Spanish and dedicate it to her sibling. Miley and Adam think it’s two people performing (???). She’s not bad, although that last note was kind of shaky. If she had performed earlier in the process, she might have gotten a turn. Miley felt the two parts of her voice didn’t blend. Blake gives her a hug – No Turns

Oh…we see a montage of nos as Miley and Adam attempt to fill their teams.

Megan Rose – 20 – San Ramon CA –  Ode to Billie Joe by Bobbie Gentry – Her dad was an “incredible” musician. He was diagnosed with MS before she was born and can no longer play instruments.  Being a country singer in San Francisco, is difficult, she says. So move to Nashville, girl! I guess she wants to stick close to her dad. Well, she’s 100% perfect for Miley. It’s gotta go her way. Interesting song choice, but her version lacks the intimacy of the original. Bobbie Gentry was a masterful storyteller. Both Adam and Miley turn. Megan sinks to her knees in tears. Miley rushes up to the stage to hug her.  Miley explains that she’s on the verge of making “herstory” having the 1st 100% female team on The Voice. Adam insists he’ll be a better coach and that’s all that matters. Jennifer is Team Miley.  And of course, the narrative stands.  Megan chooses Team Miley  – Download at iTunes

Team Miley Cyrus is Full

Gary Carpentier – 26 – Oswego NY –  Home by Michael Buble – Gary played baseball in college and even had scouts looking at him. But his grades weren’t good. In high school he sang in choir and performed in musicals. He now knows that music is his true calling. His fiance believes in him even when he doesn’t. His voice is super breathy. Fiance off stage is already teary. Adam doesn’t waste time turning his chair. The fiance loses it–breaking down in tears. So, since there’s no chair drama, we’ve got to find it elsewhere in this very last audition of the season 13 blinds. Vocally, he’s nothing special. I smell cannon fodder!  After he finishes, Gary also breaks down into tears. Team Adam Levine chooses Gary –  Download at iTunes
