The Voice season 13 continues Monday night (Dec 18) as The Final 4–Brooke Simpson, Addison Agen, Red Marlow and Chloe Kohanski take the stage for your votes and a chance at the crown.

From what I understand, each of the singers will reprise a favorite song choose a new cover, sing an original…and I’m not sure about the third. Usually it’s a duet with their respective coach (ETA: It is).

The Voice Season 13 Finale Guest Stars and Collaborations

As far as this week’s results are concerned: In the first week of the live shows, I ranked Noah Mac No. 1, but then remembered that season 12 front runner Hunter Plake was cut at the bloodbath. This competition is not easy for indie style modern pop singers. Season 7’s Matt McAndrew did well on the strength of his vocals and song choices. But while he was considered the sure winner, he was bested by Blake Shelton’s country boy, Craig Wayne Boyd.  The thing about Noah: His arrangements and song choices were A+ but his vocals were hit and miss. For me, his creativity and musicality made up for imperfect singing. But on singing shows, that’s typically not the case.

Brooke Simpson really is the dark horse of this quartet. “Amazing Grace” turned the competition around for her. It was a one-two punch. The following week, she performed a big belty cover of “Faithfully” in the pimp spot. I think the producers REALLY wanted Miley in the finale this time, as she was left out her last time as coach in season 11. Ironically, the TWO singers Miley gave away, Chloe Kohanski and Addison Agen will probably come in #1 and #2 respectively (unless Red Marlow sneaks into that #2 spot).  Looking back on the season, it’s mind blowing that Miley ditched Addison in favor of Karli Webster in the Battles. In the Knockouts she favored Ashland Craft over Chloe. But then–who knows if either singer would have done as well under her tutelage.

Who will win The Voice season 13? I think Blake Shelton is about to grab his sixth win out of 13 seasons, with Chloe Kohanski. That’s almost 50 percent over the lifetime of the show.  Except for season 5, the seasons Blake wasn’t the winner, he was the runner up.  And in the case of season 3, with Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott respectively, he was both. Talk about domination.

Here’s how I rank the Final 4. How would you rate them?

  1. Chloe Kohanski – Team Blake – Chloe is far and away the iTunes champ of the season, notching two No. 1 during the course of the lives. Her songs tend to have staying power two, sticking around in the Top 200 during the course of the competition. Her You Tube videos are also the most watched of all the contestants. And her fan base is one of the most passionate I’ve seen on The Voice. Plus. You know. TEAM BLAKE. She’s got this.
  2. Addison Agen – Team Adam –  Addison has done well on iTunes too. In the past two weeks, she’s been No. 2 behind Chloe.  The live shows have been all about Chloe and Addison. They’re both indie singers, but I think Addison’s quiet strength gets over shadowed by Chloe’s rockstar vibe. In another season, she might have been the winner.
  3. Red Marlow – Team Blake –  Don’t count out Red though. Country fans seem to vote more online than via iTunes. He could sneak into the No. 2 spot with a strong performance.
  4. Brooke Simpson Team Miley – As the late bloomer of this bunch, I expect Brooke will leave the competition in 4th place.

Join us tonight at 8 pm ET when The Final Four perform for your votes on The Voice, airing live on NBC.
