America’s Got Talent 2025 Reveals Two-Night Finale Details
The show kicks off with a look back at season 20. WHEE.
Jessica Sanchez – Singer
Oh. Jessica is performing first. That does not seem good. She speaks as if her getting bounced from AGT 20 years ago was her big singing show experience. In the meantime, in 2012 she competed on American Idol and finished in second place. The singer is 9 months pregnant with a daughter.
She opens the performance of “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, singing acapella. It’s another powerful and artful performance from Jessica. After years of honing her craft, she delivers adlibs and beautiful phrasing effortlessly.
Sofia says, “It’s perfection. You look like a little pregnant angel.” Mel B. notes how Jessica brings the audience into her world. She calls her vocals “flawless” every single time. Howie agrees. “So far this is the best act of the night,” he jokes. Simon felt an extra 10% from her compared to last week. “You’ve always got to believe in yourself,” he says. He compliments the arrangement. He calls it her personal best.
LightWire – LED Dance Group
The group admits that some elements of their semifinal performance malfunctioned. They were very nervous they would not advance. They had less that a week to prepare for tonight’s new performance.
These routines are beginning to feel samey. Same themes, same stories, same visual elements. But with so little time to prepare, they are probably doing the best that they can.
Regardless, the crowd goes wild. Simon confesses he got “quite emotional” watching it. He calls the message “beautiful.” He adds, “You are really nice people.” Uh. He wants them to win. Not based on that performance. Sofia calls it their best act. Mel B. notes how this week was very similar to last week, but she’s not mad.
Mama Duke – Rapper
Mel B gave this rapper her live golden buzzer, allowing her to skip the semifinals. Growing up, Mama loved the Spice girls. She wrote what she hopes is a million dollar song.
Did Mama just get bleeped? This new song is better than her quarterfinal performance. And less old fashioned than her audition. It’s her best so far.
Mel could “literally listen to you all day long,” she says. “I just adore your heart and soul…and realness.” Howie says “You are incredibly authentic and likable.” Sofia loves that Mama is unique and creative. Simon adds, “I really like you a lot. I have a lot of respect for you.” He appreciates her uncompromising personality.
Sirca Marea – Variety Act
The married duo perform more of their death defying ariel act. At any moment, very bad things can happen. While he hangs upside down, he slings his partner around. Their stunts require losing contact for seconds. It’s so dangerous. They are eventually blindfolded. It’s amazing they both know where they are just by feel. The last bit has the female hanging precariously off her partner.
Howie notes their strength and grace. But he found the act a little repetitive this week. Mel disagrees. She calls the act “seamless and breathless.” Sofia adds, “you guys get better and better. Simon was on his feet. He calls them humble, and declared that they don’t need backstory. “It’s just about the talent.” He calls them the best of the kind of act they do. “11 out of 10.”
Micah Palace – Musician
Micah was Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, allowing him to advance straight to the finals. His mom has always been his biggest supporter.
He sings about being the “hottest thing in Spanish.” Either this song is very similar to his original audition song, or he’s reprising it. He’s dancing like he’s on the Grammys. I find him rather forgettable.
Sofia calls his performance a party. Simon thought the performance had everything. He loved the message. “I am so happy for you.” Mel loved the party vibe. However, she ends her critique with a warning: “You have to be nice to everybody,” she says. Hm. Did something happen? Howie felt the performance was not as good as his first two. Simon butts in to say that Micah has been polite and sweet to everybody. This is incredibly weird. Backstage drama happened, for sure.
Leo High School Choir – Choir
Many of the kids in the choir are either in college or ready to go.
This time they sing “Hall of Fame” by The Script. It’s not a step up from previous performances. But it’s got that rousing “We Are the Champions” kind of vibe that will probably appeal to many folks.
Mel believes the group has delivered time and time again. Simon is thrilled for the group. “It doesn’t matter what we say. It’s what’s happening behind us.” He notes that the audience loves them. Howie calls them a “winning, wonderful vibe.” Sofia calls them the coolest choir that has ever been on AGT.
Chris Turner – Freestyle Rapper
Chris studied archeology and anthropology in college, but put it all behind him to pursue performance. His motto is to always take a risk.
He plans to freestyle eight random suggestions. He takes requests from the judges. Howie wants “No Tampon.” Sofia gives her a suggestion in Spanish. Simon suggests “baby elephant plays bongos with bananas.” The judges pick four suggestions from the crowd. A big twist–he’s gonna speed it up. He ends at 150 beats a minute. The upside– can’t understand what he’s saying! Who knows if it makes sense.
Simon has a feeling Chris might be the one to beat. Mel calls him humble and a raw talent. Sofia calls him a genius. Howie thinks he solidified himself the million dollar prize. Did he?
Jourdan Blue – Singer
Jourdan spent years busking on the streets of New Orleans. The judges have criticized him for playing it safe. Earlier in the competition, food poisoning almost derailed a performance. Tonight his estranged parents will be in the audience.
He sings “Golden” from KPop Demon Chasers. It’s worth mentioning that Jourdan never sang original songs. However, his song selections have been good (even the ones criticized by the panel). This song is really hot right now. I don’t think Jourdan will win, but Top 5 possibly. He’s a rangy inventive singer.
Howie gushes over Jourdan, “YOU WON” he shouts. Simon believes he finally delivered a great performance. “You could win.” Mel B agrees, “I’ve been waiting to see you like this.” She loves his man bun. Sofia compliments him for taking the risk.
Team Recycled – Dance Group
The team gathers round their director to thank him. “I never really knew what it means to have a family,” one says tearfully.
Once again, audience seats are set aside for the group behind the judges. They don’t spend much time in the space. Epic music plays on the soundtrack as the team works with light up fans. As far as a light show is concerned, this is more entertaining than Lightwire. The routine ends with a dancer suspended in mid air.
The group is Howie’s Golden Buzzer. He mentions Rosh Hashana? Simon thinks “that was the best performance you’ve given us so far.” He calls it “spectacular.” Mel B. feels they recycled a bunch of moves, but still calls the routine kind of genius. Sofia dubs it sensational.
Steve Ray Ladson – Musician
Steve grew up on a farm. His early performing days were rough. He ended back at home at one point. His entire family is coming to the finale.
Steve plays banjo as he performs a line dance type tune called “Do the Rodeo.” The song is pretty dumb, actually. But there are never too many wedding dances, right? He’s likable, though.
Sofia calls him a “superstar” adding, “you smell delicious.” Mel B. appreciates his individuality. “Your vocals are brilliant. Simon believes that this is “your moment.” He thinks his songs sound like hit records. Howie calls his music “funkry” and predicts the song will go to No. 1.
