And the first night of The Voice season 13 Playoffs are on the books. Twelve contestants split between two teams–Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton–performed tonight. Afterward, the two coaches hand-picked three singers from their teams to move on to the live finals that begin next week.
Did you agree with the coaches choices? Based on tonight’s performances, I would have to say yes. A couple of caveats: Jennifer saddled Chris Weaver with a poor song choice. “California Soul” didn’t allow him to show his full potential. And what a shame. Because, I heard from a little birdie that Chris planned to perform in drag if he made the finals. Oh well, there’s always RuPaul. Also, on Team Jennifer–I have mixed feelings about Shi’Ann Jones making the finals. She’s awfully young and rough around the edges. But on the other hand, she’s got SUCH a unique sound. Hannah Mrozak didn’t perform her best. Nevertheless, I’m mixed about her elimination. She’s older, and more ready than Shi’ann, I think.
No viewer voting this week meant less action on the iTunes charts. But a few singers made the Top 200. As of Tuesday morning:
38. Noah Mac – In the Air Tonight
76. Red Marlow – Chiseled in Stone
96. Chloe Kohanski – Time After Time
111. Davon Fleming – I Am Changing
