The Voice season 12 Knockouts are complete. Twenty contestants have been revealed–five on each team–to compete in next week’s LIVE Playoffs. But not so fast! The rumors were true. Each coach–Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani–will each bring back one contestant to make a Top 24. Wednesday night’s “road to the lives” teased the twist at the end of the show…but didn’t reveal the wildcards.
Welp. Of course there are spoilers! If you want to know which four contestants are the rumored comeback artists, click The Voice 12 Top 24 Spoilers post, and discuss your reactions in the comments there. (Not here. There are fans who do not want to be spoiled!)

The favorite contestant poll is interesting…I wouldn’t have predicted Chris Blue at the top. Jesse Larson is higher than I expected as well. I figured Anatalia Villaranda for the Top 5. Hm. The favorite team results are pretty much what I expected.
Although, I toyed with the wording Favorite Team? Or Strongest Team? Alicia undoubtedly has a strong and diverse team, including two soul singers retro & modern (Chris Blue, Vanessa Ferguson), country (Ashley Levin), indie (Stephanie Rice) and pop/r&b (Anatalia Villaranda)–all impressively talented. But also the kind of singers that don’t win talent competitions.
Adam, on the other hand, who came in last in the poll, has cute rocker Josh West, retro bluesman Jesse Larson and cute pop singer Mark Isaiah. Cute, talented and or retro boys do real well with voters. Lilli Passero is a very talented vocalist, and one of my favorites, but her jazzy throwback style isn’t winning material. (Not that she probably cares. Her CMU background suggests that she’s trying to boost an acting, rather than singing career. See: Katharine McPhee)
Blake Shelton put himself at a distinct disadvantage by not adding a male country singer to his team. Obviously, he’s all about the girls this season. Only one guy–TSoul–and I expect his quirky style will get him booted next week. If he gives Aliyah Moulden the right songs, she might have a chance. Singer/Songwriter Lauren Duski could also rise to the top. Casi Joy is talented, but too much of a throwback.
And that leaves Gwen Stefani whose team changed the most throughout the competition. Hunter Plake could be a dark horse. Don’t count out JChosen and Brennley Brown. If Brennley turns out more performances like her Knockout (Up to the Mountain), she could be a contender.
