The Voice Ratings Stay Steady, The AMAs Dip Dramatically vs 2017

The Voice Blind Auditions 6 Adam Levine Kelly Clarkson

The Voice ratings in the 18-49 demo held up well against the American Music Awards, which fell dramatically compared to 2017. The Voice’s 1.8 matched last Tuesday’s number, and also matched the AMAs. However, with 3 million more viewers than the AMAs, The Voice had more viewers outside of the key demo.

Airing earlier than it normally does and on a different night, ABC’s broadcast of the American Music Awards scored a 1.8 average rating, tying for the no. 2 spot of the night in the demo but down about 25% from the 2.4 of the 2017 show. It would have won the 8 p.m. hour though, had it not been for “The Voice,” which not only matched the 1.8 it had scored last Tuesday, but also beat the AMAs in total viewers (9.02 vs. 6.55 million).
