The Voice 8 – Sawyer Fredericks “Man of Constant Sorrow” (VIDEO)

Check out this fresh The Voice 8 preview from Monday’s premiere!

Sawyer Fredericks’ blind audition, “I’m a Man of Constant Sorrow,” has the coaches–Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton— battling over him.

The singer’s old school gospel style impresses everyone. What’s even crazier–Sawyer is a 15 year old. Yeah, sounding like a 70 year old.

Adam is determined to have Sawyer on his team. He NEEDS the singer, in order to “crush” Blake this year. It’s Adam’s main goal! The 2nd winningest coach, promises Sawyer that he’s “not going anywhere until you’re the last person standing in the competition.” Blake, rightly, calls him out on that.

I’m not sure if Christina wants to be Sawyer’s BFF or his coach. When Sawyer tells her that he listens to Ray Lamontagne and Creedence for inspiration, she holds it up as an example of WHY they are meant to work together. I’m NOT following her line of thinking, but her pitch is entertaining, nevertheless, and that’s what counts, right? (He’s never going to pick her.)

Blake loves Sawyer’s badass sound and leaves it at that, because he refuses to sound desperate, like some people coughadamcough.

Pharrell launches into his whole “This is about you and what you want to do…and did I mention that this is about you?” spiel. Even if Sawyer doesn’t end up on Pharrell’s team, he’s going to be so proud to “watch this amazing thing happen.”
