America’s Got Talent: Howie Mandel Waits Almost The Entire Show to Reward Team Recycled with a Golden Buzzer

America’s Got Talent season 20 Quarterfinals are finally wrapping up this week with the fourth batch of contestants. The theme of the episode was about how Howie Mandel, who handed out the final Golden Buzzer, felt like no one was surpassing what they did in their auditions. That was until he saw the second to the last act of the night, a dance crew called, Team Recycled.

The crew is based in Berlin, Germany, but they represent many nations. In their audition, Mel B called them boring which really stung for them. The members have a variety of day jobs, but dance is their passion that they use as an outlet. This time around they aim to add more visual elements in order to make more of an impact.

The act starts with a single break dancer behind the judges table, but then a curtain is pulled back, and several dancers are shown in the seats in the audience. They have outfits that transition from light to dark in color, and they move to create a visual impact. They dance holding fans that later light up, and end the act at the front of the stage with light sabers and a thrilling track. It’s visually appealing. Dance is still at the center of the act, but they combined with other elements. It’s stunning, high energy, and by far the best act of the night.

Howie finally finds his Golden Buzzer

Howie reiterates his disappointment in the night, saying “I was looking for an act that would step it up, I was looking for an act that could possibly win this whole thing, and nobody has been able to step it up.” The crowd chants Howie. He then adds, “I thought to myself, can they do it? And, the answer is yes,” before hitting the golden buzzer. The group celebrates on stage.

This is the first golden buzzer of the live shows that I fully agreed with, so it was worth Howie waiting almost the entire show to press it. The only other act from the night that would have been worthy of the Golden Buzzer was TT Boyz who brought a high energy and dangerous act that was even better than their audition. The other act that I see America loving is Birmingham Youth Choir as their soloists excelled performing “Praise You.” The other two acts that showed a ton of potential were The BoyKinz who have star power even if their original wasn’t 100% there, and Gendai whose light show feels a bit different than the other light acts featured on the show.

Eleven contestants fought for Howie’s golden buzzer to the finals this week. An additional three acts will be voted through to the Semifinals by America’s vote. America’s Got Talent will reveal this week’s results on Wednesday, September 10 at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC, streaming on Peacock next day.
