The Voice 28 Blind Auditions: Watch Ava Nat sing an emotional cover of “I Love You, I’m Sorry”
As The Voice season 28 Blind Auditions come to a close this week, the teams are filling up. Regardless, 18 year-old Ava Nat from New York City managed to turn 3 chairs with her assured and emotional rendition of “I Love You I’m Sorry” by Gracie Adams.
Niall Horan and Reba McEntire turned at almost the same time (Niall was first!) as the young singer belted the song passionately. Snoop Dogg hit his button a little later. Only Michael Bublé stayed put.
‘Your voice was absolutely beautiful,” remarked Reba. “It’s like butter. It’s just so smooth and clear.” Ava revealed that not only does she love singer-songwriter pop, but she also sings jazz. “I wish you had sung a jazz song,” Michael said, seemingly regretful. “Your voice is so beautiful. I’m happy that these three incredible coaches turned for you. I just can’t wait to steal you!”
“You’ve clearly connected with that song”
Snoop could tell, even with his chair facing away, that Ava was young. “But you were performing like you were on Broadway, the way you walked into the lyrics. All of that is show-womanship and you had it.” He added, “A lot of people don’t get that until they are further along in their career.”
Niall compared Ava to Gracie Abrams, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift. “It’s like where they’re reading out of journal,” he observed, “That’s such a difficult thing to do. But it’s not difficult if you feel the lyric, and you’ve clearly connected with that song…that was very impressive.”
Who did Ava choose as her coach? Fans will have to tune into The Voice Blind Auditions episode 5, airing on NBC (Oct 7) at 8 pm ET/PT to find out. The Voice also streams next day on Peacock.
