The Voice 27 Playoffs: Watch Team Adam’s Conor James Impress with a cover of Chappel Roan’s ‘Pink Pony Club’
The Voice season 27 two-part Playoffs round kicks off on Monday April 28. First up is Team Adam Levine and Team Kelsea Ballerini. NBC previewed the episode, dropping a clip of Conor James‘ rendition of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club.”
Conor stays true to Chappel’s original arrangement, but he flips the gender which transforms the song into an epic gay anthem. This, despite cutting the cheeky second verse which details the debauchery that goes down at the “club.”
The singer starts at the electric piano before taking the stage to work the crowd before contemplatively sitting on a step for a quiet moment ahead of a soaring on the chorus. The song provided a great opportunity for the singer to show off his range.
“I wanted to join that conga line going down to the Pink Pony Club”
John Legend calls it “theatrical,” adding that “It felt like you were performing a big hit song from a musical at the Tonys. You sounded beautiful, but also I love the way you commanded the stage. You just seemed really in your element. I loved it.”
Kelsea said, “If you’re watching at home, this is where you hit pause and you rewind about three minutes and you hit play again.” Michael Bublé added, “I wanted to join that conga line going down to the Pink Pony Club. I don’t know what Levine is going to do…you make it impossible.”
Coach Adam concludes, “I think at this point, everybody kind of knows you can sing anything. But tonight was great because you were able to establish your own identity, when you take what you’re capable of doing vocally, and then apply it to this version of yourself, which I think is one of the purest versions of yourself we’ve seen so far, it’s really exciting. And I love you dude, good stuff.”

Coaches whittle the Top 20 down to a Top 8
The Playoffs round cuts the Top 20 down to a Top 8. After each coach’s five person team performs, they will choose only TWO singers to advance to the semi-finals. Next week, artists from Team Bublé and Team Legend compete for a spot in the next round.
Additionally, singing stars Leann Rimes and Sheryl Crow join the coaches to help mentor the artists. Leann mentors Team Adam and Team Legend, while Sheryl assists Team Kelsea and Team Bublé.
The Voice airs on Mondays on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT, streaming on Peacock the next day.
