The Voice 27 Blind Audition: Watch Ethan Eckenroad nab a 4-chair turn with a cover of Noah Kahan’s “Northern Attitude”

The Voice is back Monday night (Feb 3) with a new crop of contestants including Ethan Eckenroad from Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania. Additionally, the season 27 coaches lineup includes the return of OG Adam Levine, vet John Legend, Michael Buble returning for a second season and newbie Kelsea Ballerini.

In a new preview clip from NBC, watch Ethan garner a 4-chair turn with an evocative and soulful cover of Noah Kahan’s indie favorite, “Northern Attitude.”

The coaches fight for Ethan pulling out all the gimmicks. It’s no wonder, because Ethan’s compelling performance is a keeper. His unique voice resonates with passion and urgency.

Adam and Kelsea hit their buttons right away. John is next, followed by Michael. Backstage, Ethan’s relatives, including his wife and daughter watch.

“I have been waiting for you my friend,” says Adam. “You have this effortless thing that you do that is so soulful and so simple, you have my favorite voice that I’ve heard so far.” Kelsea adds that it’s the first time that she’s felt that she’s turned for an artist. “I’m at your show!” she gushes. She reminds Ethan that she has a song out with Noah, the original artist. “I know!” Ethan responds.

Will coaches hijinks impress Ethan?

Next come the hijinks. To prove that he loves country music (Ethan isn’t a country singer? But OK!) a photo of Michael as a teen sporting a curly mullet flashes on the screen. “You’re good music,” Michael adds.

John is impressed by Ethan’s poise and his soulfulness. After admitting that he may be at a disadvantage, he introduces a guy who dances and prances around tossing and spinning a Team Legend sign. Alrighty then!
