The Voice 25: As the Blind Auditions end, vote for your favorite artist
The Voice Blind Auditions Top 40 has been revealed. The format of the Blinds will be like last spring, apparently, when the show also featured 40 contestants. Tuesday’s end-of-show promo hinted that the “Playoffs Pass” would return.
After each Battle, the respective coach–either John Legend, Reba McEntire, Chance the Rapper or Dan + Shay–will choose the winner. The loser is either eliminated, or stolen by another coach with their ONE steal. The coaches also can use their “Playoff Pass” to save an eliminated contestant from their own team. The Playoff sends the artist straight passed the Knockouts to the Playoffs.
After season 24, which was stuffed full of talent, Season 25 has been a letdown. And I know I’m not the only fan not feeling it this season. The two seasons were filmed concurrently last summer and fall. How did the producers split up the talent so unevenly? At any rate, the Spring season is feeling like a mini-season compared to the fall, with fewers episodes and fewer contestants (56 vs 40). NBC tried to make The Voice a once a year event. But the American Song Contest, scheduled in place of the spring The Voice cycle two years ago was such a flop, the network seems to have given up on that approach.
The big gimmick this season is the “double chair” in which two coaches represent a single team. In this case, the country duo Dan + Shay who sit in the somewhat unwieldy double chair with its single button. I don’t have feelings one way or another about it. However, TWO country coaches in one season is a bit much, even if the genre is popular.
The Voice Battles begin on Monday March 18 at 8 pm ET/PT to continue on Tuesday March 19 at 9 pm ET/PT on NBC.
