The Voice 25: Asher Havon or Tae Lewis Stolen After Stellar Knockout?

The Voice 24 Knockouts - Asher Havon and Tae Lewis

The Voice 25 Knockouts premiere: A pairing that will have coaches fighting for the loser

The Voice season 25 Knockouts kick off on Monday April 8! Watch this sneak peak of Team Reba McEntire artists, Asher Havon and Tae Lewis fight for a spot in the Playoffs round. Asher performed Toni Braxton’s “Unbreak My Heart,” followed by Tae singing “Nothin’ on You” by Cody Johnson.

Asher’s look gave off Adam Lambert vibes while he delivered a smooth rendition of the Toni Braxton classic. He struggled somewhat in his lower register, but soared on the big notes in the middle of the song. John Legend got up on his feet.

Tae performs a country song wearing a white jacket and cowboy hat. He adds a soulful twist to a popular pop country song. There aren’t a lot of bells and whistles. He sings from his heart, and at the end, his rasp and power come out.

John Legend and Chance the Rapper BOTH want to steal the loser

Chance the Rapper called Asher’s performance “one of the best on this TV show, period, ever.” He added, “You can tap into all these different spaces because your brain is so big. At some point I’m going to figure out a way to steal you.” He told Tae, “Everybody got to see you rise to the occasion. It’s about your voice as much as it is star power.”

Dan Smyers of Dan + Shay said to Asher, “You exercised so much restraint. It felt like you were doing your thing, and then you opened up your arms at the perfect time. The runs were so intentional, so accurate.” Shay Mooney said, “It was from your heart and it went straight to our souls.” He felt that Tae really “stepped up” in the moment. “You took it to that next level.” Shay compared his tipped hat to a character in Bonanza. “Your swagger is so heavy, you had to lean a little bit to one side.”

John promised that for whomever Reba didn’t choose, there would be a place for him on Team Legend. Chance is not happy. “You can’t do that!” he protested. John laughed. As a vet of 9 seasons, he feels he has earned the privilege of doing what he wants! He called Asher’s presence “regal,” dubbing him “King Asher.” John described his low singing at the beginning of the song as “powerful.” For Tae, he said, “You sang the hell out of that song.”

Country star Keith Urban serves as Mega Mentor

Reba said, “You guys give me chills, you make me cry. I felt like a proud momma settin’ here. You both got so much soul. It comes from your toenails when you guys start singing.” Who will Reba choose as the winner? And who will steal the loser? Reba should pick the country singer Tae, and let Chance and John have Asher, whose style of singing is more in their wheelhouse.

But fans will find out all the results of the Knockout when The Voice ais the Knockouts premiere on Monday April 8 at 8 pm ET/PT. Country star Keith Urban will serve as Mega Mentor for all the coaches and their teams.

In this next round, two artists from the same team go head to head performing songs of their own choosing. At the end, their coach picks a winner who will move on to the Playoffs. A coach can use their ONE steal to snag the eliminated contestant, or else they go home!

The round will produce 12 Knockout winners and 4 stolen artists who will join the 4 “Playoffs Pass” recipients from the Battles to move on to the Playoffs round.
