Twenty-one year old Grace Bello’s beautiful rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” got all four coaches to turn their chairs. In this preview from Tuesday night’s episode, Coach John Legend compares Grace, who lives in Lacey, Washington but is originally from Cibolo, Texas, to Maelyn Jarmon. She’s a singer John won the show with on his first season.
He explains how singers with big voices often do really well on the show, but uses Maelyn as an example of a singer who was “way more subtle,” yet prevailed in the end. “I heard that in you as well,” he says, complimenting Grace’s control and tone. “I think we would make some beautiful music together on this show and I would love to coach you,” he says.
“You were able to get tender with your voice,” says Gwen Stefani, noting how many sides of her voice she was able to show during her performance. “That’s also rare for someone so young.” She continues, “I think that you would fit in really really good on Team Gwen! There’s nobody like you on my team.”
Mentioning that she’s a fellow pop singer, Camila Cabello says, “I would be really excited to explore song choices with you.” Camila also compares her “belting tone” to former The Voice coach, Ariana Grande. Blake Shelton insists that he had to identify the Justin Bieber song for Camila, which is of course, a lie.

Blake realizes that his chances are “slipping away from me.” But he won’t give up. “Your voice is magical,” he says, adding, “Maybe I don’t know that much pop music, but it doesn’t mean that I’m not a fan. I would just represent you as somebody who’s done this now for a long time. I can’t think of anything that would be more different or weird than if you chose me as your coach.”
As a joke, Camila holds up one of John’s jackets on which she’s written in black sharpie “Camila is a” in a white space above “Legend.”
Despite Blake’s clever pitch, the contest does appear to be between Camila and John. Who will she pick as her coach? Find out on The Voice Blind Auditions night 6, Tuesday (October 4) on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT.
