The Voice 24 Finale Recap – Top Five Perform for Your Votes and the WIN

Hey all, Ashley here to live blog the first part of The Voice finale tonight! The Top 5 – Huntley (Team Niall Horan), Jacquie Roar (Team Reba McEntire), Lila Forde (Team John Legend), Mara Justine (Team Niall Horan) and Ruby Leigh (Team Reba McEntire) – will perform one last time.

Jacquie Roar (Team Reba McEntire) – “More Than A Feeling”

This song suits Jacquie’s naturally deeper tone so well. She gets her coach clapping and standing with those high notes!

Gwen says she keeps getting better and better. Reba says “go big or go home” and she made her happy tonight.

Lila Forde (Team John Legend) – “The Weight”

Lila is another one with a slightly deeper tone and she’s got some great groove! She really works the stage while John stands from his chair and sways.

Gwen says she’s her fan and compliments her confidence. John says she adds individuality and musicality to everything she does and she’s in the space she’s supposed to be.

Mara Justine (Team Niall Horan) – “Turning Tables”

Mara’s voice is beautiful. I love the way she goes from an enjoyable rasp in her voice to a transcending falsetto. This song allows her to bring her voice up and down and she does it stunningly.

John says he has so many regrets and calls this performance striking and beautiful. Niall says he’s so proud of her and he hopes America doesn’t forget this moment because it was a big The Voice moment for him.

Huntley (Team Niall Horan) – “Another Love”

Huntley has a very “now” voice. I can think of plenty of other songs that might compliment his tone better, but nonetheless, he’s a talented singer.

Gwen says she loved watching him get emotional and he feels the music, and she understands why he’s chasing this dream because if she had his gift she would too. Niall says he enjoyed this emotional side of him and congratulates him on killing it after tearing up watching messages from his family beforehand.

We break from competition for former Team Blake winner Bryce Leatherwood to perform.

Ruby Leigh (Team Reba McEntire) – “Suspicious Minds”

Love me some Elvis!! Love the way she’s adding her twang to this song, reminds me so much of Reba! Really unique arrangement of the song as well, and that note at the end!! Wow!!

John calls her remarkable and says her voice has heft and power despite her young age. Reba says Elvis recorded it first, but she Ruby-ized it.

Jacquie Roar (Team Reba McEntire) – “Nights In White Satin”

Beautiful song for a beautiful voice. Her voice sounds so rich in this song, and then she comes at it with attack by the end. This was the definition of giving it your all for your last performance.

Gwen says she doesn’t even have words, and says it was great and got better and better. Reba says she’s a force of nature, she carries herself well on stage and she’s proud of her.

Lila Forde (Team John Legend) – “Across The Universe”

This song is like a rollercoaster for her voice in the best way. Another one with ups and downs, Lila really has a uniqueness to her performances. The flowers around her just add to the mellowness of it all.

Niall says the hardest thing to do in music is be yourself, she’s one of his favorite singer/songwriters right now, and he can’t wait to buy her record. John says it was heavenly and cinematic and magical and exactly the last thing America needs to hear before they vote.

Mara Justine (Team Niall Horan) – “Piece Of My Heart”

Such a good song! I personally think I preferred her voice on a ballad, but she’s a great singer either way. The song just seems a bit too big for her. The note at the end had such Kelly Clarkson vibes though, not gonna lie.

Reba says she’s a powerhouse and repeats how talented she is. Niall says wow over and over and then says it was out of this stratosphere.

Ruby Leigh (Team Reba McEntire) – “Desperado”

I wasn’t a huge fan of her up tempo song, but this one!! Perfect for her tone. Her voice is so big and controlled. It really is impressive for her age.

Gwen says she loved watching her family root for her and she channels the intention of the song so well. Reba says she’s so proud, she knows what she can do and she does it so well.

Huntley (Team Niall Horan) – “Higher”

This song is perfect for Huntley’s voice. The way he draws out his rocker rasp, I’m getting so many David Cook vibes from this, and we all know how it turned out for him…

Gwen says the details of what he does are incredible. John says he’s watching somebody who should be playing arenas and he’s flabbergasted. Niall says the place won’t have a roof next season because he just flew it off.

The winner is crowned during tomorrow night’s finale, featuring performances from AJR, Dan and Shay and more!
