The Battles continue on The Voice season 18! Check out this preview face off between Team Blake Shelton’s Marina Chello and Ricky Duran.
Watch the soulful singers battle it out with a dynamic performance of “Valerie” by the Zutons and Amy Winehouse. Afterward, the coaches are divided on who did the best. And there’s a strong hint that at least one steal enters the picture.
John Legend would give the battle to Ricky “You looked so confident up there…like you are really having a good time.” John continued, “Something about your tone is really cool to me. You sound like a star.” Gwen Stefani agreed. “You have star quality and stage presence.” She believes Ricky’s performance 100% and marvels over his lack of nerves.
On the other hand, Kelly Clarkson is impressed with Marina’s fight “You were like, YES, I want to win!” and teased “if anyone’s up for grabs, like hey, have a good time with Blake right now!”
Blake believed that both singers “did everything that a coach could ask you to do…you took the notes you listen.” He added, “You came out here and gave it a hundred and fifty percent.” As far as which singer he’ll choose? Blake said, “I’m picking the winner of this battle. Not because I think somebody isn’t better than the other. It’s just based off of this song.”
Remember, Blake has a save left. It’s entirely possible he will keep the losing artist.
