The Voice 18 Blind Auditions: Micah Iverson Covers Kodaline (VIDEO)

Micah Iverson The Voice Blind Audition

The Voice 18 Blind Audition: Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton Fight for Micah Iverson

Alt rock singer, Micah Iverson, from Tokyo Japan, covers Kodaline’s “All I Want” for his The Voice Blind audition. His impassioned vocal gets three spins from coaches Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas and Blake Shelton.

Reminding Micah that she turned first, Kelly gushes over his voice, “You’re my favorite kind of male voice. It’s all heart and passion. You’ve got range for days.” Micah admits that Kelly is one of his big influences. Score! He also loves Dashboard Confessional and Death Cab for Cutie. Kelly loves alt rock!

It’s Nick’s turn. And as usual, he’s very persuasive, noting he grew up on Switchfoot and Copeland, and that his band Jonas Brothers wrote songs as if they were in an emo pop rock band. Poor Blake is confused, “I thought pop rocks were a damn candy,” he admits.

As The Coaches Fight for Micah, The Convo Turns a Little Weird

John Legend didn’t turn, and admits he made a mistake, “Your tone has this lovely, ethereal presence, and I think you should’ve been a 4 chair turn, and I regret not turning.” Blake quips, “He clearly has button dysfunction! And that happens to a lot of men, John.” Kelly adds, “Don’t be ashamed!” John can take a joke, “If your button is stuck for four hours…call a doctor.” Meanwhile, poor Nick is clearly embarrassed.

In any case, Blake fully admits that when it comes to alt rock, he is totally clueless, but, he says, “I don’t think it matters. I have won this show six times, with rock artists, pop. I’ve won it with soul, R&B and country.” Hm. Blake hasn’t won The Voice since season 13. But I digress.

At this point, Kelly still doesn’t have a guy on her team, “literally the only man on Team Kelly could be you!” Blake accuses her of saying she wanted an all-girl team. They roll the tape. But then, I distinctly remember her saying she needed a man on her team.

I think Micah will choose either Kelly or Nick. Actually, Micah seemed excited at the prospect of being the lone male Team Kelly member. He is probably aware that Team Kelly has won 3 out of the last 4 seasons.

The Voice Blind Auditions 5 airs on NBC Monday March 16 at 8 pm ET/PT.
