The Voice 17 Joana Martinez “Call Out My Name” Blind Audition (VIDEO)

Joana Martinez The Voice Blind Audition

Watch 15 year old Joana Martinez wow The Voice coaches with her mature rendition of The Weeknd’s hit song “Call Out My Name.” The performance is from Monday’s (Oct 7) Blind Audition 5 episode.

Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton all push their buttons for the young singer. Interestingly, John Legend holds back, calling the performance “near perfect” afterwards. It’s never explained why. As a vocalist, Joana seems to be right up John’s ally. But the Blind Auditions are coming to an end soon, which means the teams are filling up.

Blake, disagrees with John. “What are you talking about, that was a perfect performance,” Blake insists. Gwen felt Joana connected “so well” to the song and called her stage presence “instinctive” and “gorgeous.”

Kelly agrees, but notes that Joana sings with her eyes closed, a thing that Kelly used to do. “I think if you just hone in on opening up and performing it as you’re feeling it, it’s going to be amazing,” she says adding, “I would love to have you on my team.”

Blake disagrees with Kelly, “If you’re getting lost in your moment in telling your story, please don’t open your eyes. Please stay connected to your song.” He adds, “We just need to navigate this competition. You’re God given talent is already shining through.”

Who will Joana choose as her coach? Tune in Monday October 7 at 8 pm on NBC to find out.
