A few thoughts:
- It was like freaking Nashville Star last night. WAY too much country.
- The country boys struggled with pitch last night. Gyth Rigdon in particular. His vocals have diminished over the last few weeks. However, his original song was solid and sits at No 5 on iTunes. That song may secure him the runner-up position tonight.
- MaeLyn should be running away with this thing. She was heads and shoulders above the competition. Thanks Adam Levine for backing her. You’re good for something this season. Let us hope his endorsement doesn’t backfire on her though.
- Even though Dexter is the best vocalist of the country boys, he didn’t hit the iTunes chart until No. 18 with his original Looking Back. Andrew Sevener’s hackneyed original Rural Route Rising is at No 10. And that horrible song Lips of an Angel is at No 12. I am so confused.
- The enduring appetite for Hallelujah covers is really something. Maelyn’s cover sits at No 1 this morning. And her original, Wait for You is at No. 4 AND her duet with John Legend, unforgettable, is at No. 8!!! She is so going to win this thing. Or she better.
