The Voice season 11 is off to a strong start. Wé McDonald, Ali Caldwell and Brendan Fletcher all had standout performances. Billy Gilman knows how to thrill a crowd. Sundance Head, Austin Allsup, Darby Walker, and Josh Gallagher also had solid showings.
The coaches spent the first week of the live finals throwing the softest of softballs by way of commentary. But blissfully, there was so much music to pack in, coach’s remarks were kept to a minimum. Only two or three spoke at one time. The two hour episode was nicely paced.
Here is what the iTunes chart looked like about 40 minutes after the show ended on the West coast. I don’t see any surprises. Aaron Gibson is nearly out of the Top 200. I admire his risk taking, but an obscure song needs a strong hook in order to grab viewers quickly. Sa’Rayah’s “Livin’ On a Prayer” was a misfire. I’m not surprised it’s charting so low. And folks don’t seem to be buying what Darby Walker is selling.
Watch for tomorrow’s prediction post….
