The publicity machine is cranking up! Yesterday and today The Voice season 11 coaches–Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys–are taping the *Battle Rounds.
E! News has a report (NBC and E! are both owned by Comcast/Universal. Natch!) from Thursday’s taping. And of course they report that newbie coaches Miley and Alicia, are like BEST FRIENDS FOREVAH!11!1!
“Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus seem to have become super close during their time together on the show,” an audience member who attended today’s taping tells E! News. “During some of the performances, Miley and Alicia would look at each other and smile, nod, or grab hands.”
“There was a moment when the judges were discussing one of the songs Miley had chosen for her team members to battle and Alicia said, in reference to Miley, ‘This girl is a secret weapon! She knows her stuff. She’s a dope girl.’ Miley gave her a high five. You could sense a lot of love there.”
Aside from their lovefest, Miley was also seen entertaining the crowd (which is so Miley, right?). The eyewitness tells E! News, “There was one point when Miley got up and walked onto the stage and danced a little bit and the crowd went nuts.”
Actually, I didn’t expect the two singers to fight a la Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on American Idol season 12. I’m just a little leary of Miley possibly being annoying af. But we’ll see. I’ll give her a chance.
*Battles are the rounds where team members battle with duets. One of the duo is eliminated by their coach and/or possibly stolen by another coach. Typically, 32 contestants remain after the Battles. The Knockouts, which pits team members against each other singing solos is scheduled for the week of August 22. The Knockouts determine the singers who will compete on the live shows.
Celebrity Battle Round advisers are: Bette Midler with Blake Shelton, Sammy Hagar with Adam Levine, Charlie Puth with Alicia Keys and Joan Jett with Miley Cyrus.
The Voice season 11 will officially premiere on NBC Monday September 19. However, a 30 minute Blind Audition sneak peek is set to air at 10:30 pm ET/PT on Sunday August 21 right after the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics closing ceremony.
