The Voice 10 Battle rounds have concluded and your Top 32 has been revealed.
Team Christina Aguilera and Team Pharrell Williams had the most contestants stolen with three each. Team Adam Levine and Team Blake Shelton delivered one one contestant a piece to other teams. Even with the redistribution of team members, Team Christina and Team Pharrell have the strongest teams, respectively.
Christina’s Alisan Porter is heading to the finals, barring some crazy outcome. The mantra this season is “break the girl curse” which Christina has repeated early and often, and she just might manage to do that this year. Maybe. The “girl curse” isn’t only a coach problem, it’s now a major The Voice problem too. The last female winner was Season 5’s Tessanne Chin. Will one of the attractive and talented guys, like Ryan Quinn for instance (who also seems destined for the finals) put an end to Alisan’s early front runner status? We shall see!
As far as the mentors are concerned, having hosted his own competition reality show on MTV (Making the Band) Diddy understood perfectly how to appear both helpful and entertaining. He was tops, and should be on the short list for coach replacement. I enjoyed Patti Labelle’s regal presence and her diction lessons. She and Christina joining Shalyah Fearing and Tamar Davis for a round of “Lady Marmalade” was pretty cool. I love Tori Kelly as a singer, but she didn’t offer much as a mentor. I’d chalk that up to inexperience. Sorry, but I’m suffering a severe case of Gwen/Blake fatigue. Here’s to the relentless publicity of their rebound romance selling a bunch of albums and tour tickets for both of them. Hopefully the inevitable breakup isn’t too messy. Otherwise. I. Don’t. Care.
