The Voice 10 Recap Top 8 Results
It’s the semi-final bloodbath! Four contestants leave the competition tonight on The Voice. Which four members of Team Blake Shelton, Team Adam Levine, Team Pharrell Williams or Team Christina Aguilera will advance to next week’s final? The three top vote getters automatically advance to the final. The bottom two head home. The 4th, 5th and 6th place singers perform for the Insta-Save: The winner takes the fourth spot in next week’s final.
In the meantime, Alicia Keys, recently announced as a new coach for The Voice for season 11, will perform her new single, “In Common.” Plus OneRepublic will perform their brand new song, “Wherever I Go.”
Anything could happen tonight, kids! Get ready…
Host Carson Daly asks the coaches his Captain Obvious questions. He asks Christina how confident she is that a female will win the voice. She admits that the odds are stacked against the females. She would be correct.
Next, the Top 8 take the stage. Dumb question for Hannah. What is the best advice from Pharrell? “To be myself.” The constant support from her many siblings means everything to Shalyah. Time wasting queries out of the way, it’s time to announce the first finalist…and it is…Adam Wakefield. Duh.
The Voice season 11 coach, Alicia Keys is next to perform her brand new single “In Common.” It’s got a dancey world beat thing going. When her next album comes out, it will be just in time to promote it on The Voice 11.

Next, a video package featuring this week’s superstar mentor Pink. There are a ton of antics. But not so much with Christina. Hm. I wonder how much teeth gritting was involved in those Team Christina mentor sessions.

Next, the seven remaining finalists take the stage. A quick question to Paxton…and….this is too boring to transcribe. Sorry. The next artist moving on to the finale IS…Alisan Porter from Team Christina!!!
Next, Onerepublic takes the stage to perform their new hit, “Wherever I Go.”
I’m on the edge of my seat! It’s time to announce the third finalist. But not before Mary Sarah and Bryan Bautista are asked a few mind numbingly lame questions. And your third finalist is…Hannah Huston! Team Pharrell is representing in the final!
Now it’s time to reveal the 4th 5th and 6th place finishers. They will SING for the save, the winner of which will nab the 4th spot in next week’s final. The first artist performing for a spot in the finale is…Mary Sarah from Team Blake. The second artist performing for a spot in the finale is…Bryan Bautista from Team Christina. The THIRD is Laith Al-Saadi.
All three singers will perform for the Insta-Save!
Paxton Ingram and Shalyah Fearing are eliminated from The Voice
Performances are next!
Mary Sarah – Team Blake – Something in the Water – Ah yes. TIME TO BREAK OUT A LITTLE JESUS! Unfortunately for Mary, she’s singing first. She’s got a ton of twitter followers. And you know. Team Blake! But the two singers coming after her are stronger vocalists, and it’s as if Mary has retreated back into her shell. Her nerves are showing. Pharrell is impressed with her intensity and focus. Blake can’t believe she didn’t make the Top 3. He reminds her that singers that didn’t make it to the final are making a living in country music. “There’s going to be a big giant open door for you in Nashville,” he says. Wow. That was low key speech. Like a goodbye. Blake basically blew her off without asking America to vote for her.

Bryan Bautista – Adorn by Miguel – Hm. I’m not sure this is the best song for a save me song. He’s got pitch problems too. I’m a little underwhelmed here. He should have busted out another super emotional ballad. Laith is probably going to blow him away. Pharrell loves his poise. Everybody should vote for this guy! Christina believes he deserves to advance because he’s shown everybody something new and something different.

Laith Al-Saadi – All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan – Laith is back to his bluesy retro roots, and he’s pretty much killing it. Fiery guitar solo, passionate vocals. He’s delivering a rock concert up there. Hard to imagine him not taking this, to be honest. Laith is not a pop star! pleads Adam. It’s crazy that he made it this far! Adam is on fire. “We have never seen THIS,” Adam continues to beg. “He deserves to be in the final.”

TIME TO SAVE YOUR FAVE. The Hashtags are: #VoiceSaveMary #VoiceSaveBryan #VoiceSaveLaith – Tweet the hashtag ONCE PER ACCOUNT. Retweet others as much as you want. RTs count as votes.
Before the results are announced (Laith was pummelling the other two at 50%). All three singers thank their coaches before the results are announced. We’ve got some time to kill, so the coaches speak to their team members. Blake calls Mary a friend.
And the results are in…Laith Al-Saadi wins the Insta-Save. He joins Adam Wakefield, Alisan Porter and Hannah Huston in the Final Four. All coaches will be represented next week.

The big surprise for me tonight was Hannah Huston making the Top 3 instead of Mary Sarah. I’m not complaining at ALL because Hannah is my favorite. But she’d been a middle-packer all season. Her song selections weren’t always that great. I didn’t believe she’d be able to pull it out on the strength of one great performance. Mary on the other hand, had a measure of fame before she came to The Voice. She had her iffy performances to be sure, but seemed to be on an improvement arc in the last few weeks of the finals. Plus Team Blake! But it seems there is always at least one surprise when there is a mass elimination. That’s what makes the blood bath good TV.
I was pretty sure if Laith had to sing for his life, he’d kill it with some old school rock blues and wow the home viewers with his guitar skillz, and that he did. Last night’s performance order was pretty strategic. Give the weaker performers death spots while handing the pimp position to Team Pharrell, who was in danger of losing his last team member. Not that Hannah didn’t deserve it, because she really delivered her best performance last night. We’re left with four great performers for next week’s finale. I am looking forward to a terrific show!
