The Voice 10 Recap Top 10 Results
One of the Top 10 contestants leaves the competition tonight on The Voice. Which member of Team Blake Shelton, Team Adam Levine, Team Pharrell Williams or Team Christina Aguilera will it be?
In the meantime, Season 8 winner, Sawyer Fredericks, returns to perform his new single “4 Pockets.” Joe Jonas and DNCE will also be on hand to perform a medley of their singles “Cake By the Ocean” and “Toothbrush.”
At the end of the night, the bottom 2 contestants will sing for the Insta-Save. You can learn more about that here. After the two singers perform for their lives, viewers have five minutes to save their fave via twitter. The singer with the fewest tweets leaves the competition.
DNCE opens the show with a medley of their hits. Joe Jonas and his band make their way to the stage as they perform. A dude plays bass and a chick is the lead guitarist. I approve. Nobody in this band stands still. Not complaining. A massive amount of gold balloons fall on stage. Cake by the Ocean, ya’ll.
A video clip “Mother’s Day Confessional” features the contestants with their lovely mothers. Except Nick. His wife is part of the clip of course. They love their mommies! Lots of tears. Cue the tinkly piano. The coaches wish their moms a happy Mother’s Day. Pharrell calls his madre “Dr. Pharrell.”
Daniel Passino answering a Dumb Question from host Carson Daly. “whatever happens was meant to happen.” That’s a good attitude about his imminent elimination. Shalyah Fearing is asked: 16 years old blah blah blah and she answers God blah blah blah thank God blah. America saved…from Team Christina…Alisan Porter! No surprise there.
Now it’s time for Dumb Questions for the Coaches…and I’m not going to type this up. In this moment, I am losing the will to live. I will say: Christina is preparing herself to MAYBE lose a singer. “I won’t count my chickens before they hatch!” Especially since Nick Hagelin could be leaving the competition tonight.
Why is preserving classic country so important Mary Sarah? Carson asks the question as if she’s sung traditional country every single week. She wants to pass on the music she’d been schooled in as a child. Bryan Bautista on taking a risk on a bi-lingual song. He feels showing his different sides of his artistry is important. On to the results. America saved…from Team Blake…Adam Wakefield. America also saved…from Team Adam…Shalyah Fearing!!!! Oh. Saving the obvious, Laith, for later. Mixing it up a little.
Sawyer Fredericks is back! He takes the stage to sing “4 Pockets” from his upcoming album A Good Storm. He wrote the dark song when he was only 14 years old. It’s become a staple of his live show. An example of a teenager who was fully and completely baked when he competed on the show. A rare thing. But it happens sometimes. A powerful and engaging performance from Sawyer. No interview though. Boo. Click to watch the full performance.
The remaining singers are center stage. Carson asks Hannah Huston about having the famous and talented Pharrell on her side. She calls him a “true coach.” Paxton Ingram is grateful for Blake’s unwavering support. OK. America saved…from Team Pharrell…Hannah Huston. Whew. America also saved…from Team Blake…Mary Sarah!
More results! And questions from Carson. How as Adam helped Laith Al-Saadi? Adam allows him to be the musician that he is. Christina has taught Nick Hagelin to look at The Voice experience as development rather than just a competition. And America saved…from Team Christina. Aw. Nick and Bryan seem to be buddies. And it’s Bryan Bautista who moves on. America also saved…Laith Al-Saadi from Team Adam. America also saved….Paxton Ingram from Team Blake.
Nick Hagelin and Daniel Passino will sing songs they’ve chosen themselves for the save.
First a brief election night update. After Trump won big in Indiana tonight, Ted Cruz suspended his campaign. WELP.
Nick Hagelin – Team Christina – Thinking Out Loud – A pretty flabby version of this song. His voice is so thin. Nick saunters around the stage, flirting with the pit girls. Meh. I’m still voting to save him, though. Nick has proven to Adam that he’s in it for the right reasons–it’s all about the growth and the artistry, man. Without even hearing Daniel’s song, he tells America to vote for him! Xtina says Adam isn’t just blowing smoke. Nick has grown so much, she says, thanking fans for continually voting him through.

Daniel Passino – Team Pharrell. – Uptown Funk – NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Good God. It’s like Pat Boone just hit the stage to white up the funk. NOPE NOPE NOPE. Oh dance moves. BRAIN BLEACH PLZ. He ends the “performance” with an off key screeeech. If this were an Idol audition, it would be a joke. Of course Pharrell wants him to move forward, but he feels content with the journey his team member has taken so far. In other words. “Yeah, Daniel. It’s over. It was nice knowing you. Bye.” No other coach got to speak. Spared.

Go vote on twitter now. Here are your hashtags: #VoiceSaveNick #VoiceSaveDaniel… This is such a rout, I stopped voting after a minute. Wow. That 22% voting for Daniel are probably his friends and relatives.
One last plea from the coaches. Xtina repeats Nick’s hashtag a few times. Calls out to the girls who lurve him. No begging from Pharrell. He gives Daniel a few words of encouragement. “You deserved that opportunity to come back,” he says. No, not really Pharrell. Still bitter Daniel stayed while a real artist like Owen Danoff left the competition. Sigh.
And America instantly saved Nick Hagelin. Daniel Passino is eliminated from the competition. Literally a mercy killing…
Pharrell never should have saved Daniel in the first place. He’s got some vocal chops. He’s well trained, but the singer lacks artistry. Daniel would probably be a hit singing covers at an amusement park or a cruise ship, where he can pull all the corny faces he wants. I know it sounds mean, but The Voice 10 is littered with singers who should have advanced instead. Next week, it should be Nick’s turn to go. We’ll see.
