The Sing Off Set to Return to NBC!

YAY! It appears that NBC is resurrecting the late great singing competition show, The Sing Off this fall! NBC is casting the show as we speak. Here is NBC’s casting call.

From the casting site:

The Sing Off is back! America’s top A Cappella competition is gearing up for season 4 of the hit series. The most talented A Cappella groups will compete for the opportunity to win $100,000 and a Sony Recording Contract. No lip synching, back-up bands or safety net is allowed; this is the real deal!

Yes, season 3 of the Sing-Off, which aired in the fall of 2011, was low-rated. But I didn’t understand why the network didn’t bring this highly entertaining competition show back to pre-Christmas time slot, where seasons 1 and 2 earned respectable ratings.

What’s more, the group that won Season 3, Pentatonix, has going on to achieve buzzy success. This highly talented quintet of singers are on a successful tour as we speak and can boast half a million subscribers on their popular You Tube channel.  It’s safe to say that the singing group has garnered more success than any act to come out of NBC’s golden child, The Voice.

So good on ya, NBC. You have corrected a grave mistake. No word on when The Voice will return to NBC. If they are casting now, maybe NBC is planning a summer-time run?

ETA: The Sing-Off will return in it’s old timeslot at Christmas time.
