The Masked Singer 8 Recap 90s Night: Who Was Unmasked?

CR: Michael Becker / FOX.

The Masked Singer season 8 continues ON A SPECIAL NIGHT (Sunday Nov 6) with Nick Cannon as host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger on the judges panel.

A new format means only ONE mask survives every week. At the end of three rounds, three celebrities will compete in the semi-finals for a chance to compete in the finale.

Tonight, it’s 90s Night on The Masked Singer. Lambs, a trio costume, survived last week’s episode. But can they defend their crown against new celebrity masks Walrus and Milkshake? We’re live blogging the performances and eliminations here!

The show opens with 90s rap old schoolers Tag Team doing “Woop (There it Is). They look so old. SOBS.

Walrus

Clues: “Full House” is a clue. He tap danced for a 90s talk show legend. Floppy hair. Killer zip code. He introduced himself to a new generation of streaming fans.

Performance: Two Princes by Spin Doctors – He’s a decent singer. Maybe a former boy bander? Or a former teen idol of some sort. He’s comfortable on stage. Lance Bass brings out the On Stage Clue: This mix….TV Theme songs. Ken guesses John Stamos. Robin guesses Joey Lawrence. Nicole guesses Mario Lopez after mispronouncing another name.

Milkshake

Clues: Milkshake raps his clues. Peach pits. He’s been making hits since he was a kid. He collabed with a big name and his career took off. I’ll throw a knockout punch

Performance: Jump On it by Sir Mix A lot – Probably an elderly rap artist. His performance isn’t impressive, so he’ll be unmasked first. See you soon! Danielle Fisher from Boy Meets World delivers the On Stage Clue: A playlist that’s perfect for (some sports stuff)…just ask Wiz and Snoop. Ken guesses LL Cool J. Jenny gusses DJ Jazzy Jeff. Nicole guesses T.I. Milkshake might know Nick, but he swears he doesn’t know who Milkshake is.

Lambs

Clues: A bunch of clues about being famous. Plus Popcorn and a film real and an old fashioned television.

Performance: Ironic by Alanis Morissette – The song about irony. But none of the lyrics are actually ironic! Who can beat a trio? They are killing the vocals and harmonies. So they will probably reign supreme tonight. Nicole predicts they’ll go to the semi-finals  Lance Bass is back to deliver another On Stage Clue: Go Your Own Way on your road trip…turn those daydreams into reality. Nicole guesses The Corrs. Jenny guesses SWV Robin guesses The Chicks.

Prediction: The panel is deliberately guessing wrong. It’s so obvious Lambs are Wilson Phillips

First Result!

Time for the panel and studio audience to vote out the first mask. The first contestant leaving The Masked Singer tonight is…The Walrus.  OK. A little surprised! Thought Milkshake would beat it. Final guesses: Ken: John Stamos. Robin: Joey Lawrence Jenny: Scott Wolf (He lived with her for 7 years. Wut?) Nicole guesses Mario Lopez. LOL no. And the Walrus is teen star, Joey Lawrence. Robin Thicke is correct!

Battle Royale

Lambs and Milkshake go head to head singing “What is Love” by Haddaway in their own styles. They are very different artists! It’s hard to imagine Lambs losing a head to head battle. But who knows. The panel “chooses” the winner and producers may have reasons for keeping Milkshake in it. Milkshake attempts to sing, and he’s bad. So much off key singing. Lambs sing the song all ballady. They should win the battle just because they can carry a tune. In any case, the harmonies are lovely. Robin wants to vote on a curve because the Milkshake is a rapper.

2nd Result! Who will move on to the Semi-finals?

And moving on to the Semi-Finals are LAMBS! Holding on to their crown for two weeks in a row. Milkshake is eliminated. Final guesses. Ken: LL Cool J Robin: Dashawn Jackson Jenny: DJ Jazzy Jeff Nicole guesses T.I. And Milkshake is Le’Veon Bell (An NFL Star). It makes sense that he’s not a professional rapper, because that rapping was mediocre.

So far Lambs (Wilson Phillips, likely) and Harp (Amber Riley from Glee most certainly) are competing in the semi-finals. The third and final three week round begins on Wednesday. The winner of THAT round will also advance to the semis.
