The Masked Singer 11 Group C Premiere: Who Was Unmasked on Billy Joel night?

The Masked Singer season 11 continues on to week 3 and Group C premiere, with Nick Cannon as host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, and Ken Jeong on the judging panel alongside new coach, Rita Ora.

The next four mystery celebrities include Lizard, Clock, Spaghetti & Meatballs, and Poodle Moth. One celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night.

Robin Thicke opens the show with a performance of Billy Joel’s “My Life.” He sings with his R&B falsetto with extra runs. It doesn’t really work.

Poodle Moth

Clues: There’s no such thing as a Poodle Moth. The costume department mashups! She’s the only Poodle Moth in the world. She was drawn to the flame, but didn’t have self-confidence. She helped others achieve their dreams. She took a leap and was discovered.

Performance: Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel – This voice sounds so familiar. She’s somebody who has been around for awhile. Maybe she was a background singer before taking center stage. Her alto is reminiscent of Crystal Gayle, Loretta Lynn’s sister, who had a bunch of hits in the 70s. On Stage Clue: “Opry” is the clue. “I felt like a big shot when I performed at the Opry.” Trisha Yearwood. Robin guesses Rita guesses Wynonna Judd, Ken guesses Rita Wilson.

Prediction: Lots of people are guessing Gloria Estefan, but while the voice is similar, NONE of the clues fit. Others are saying Chrissy Metz, actress from the drama series This is Us, which is more likely. She worked as an agent in Hollywood at one time. Recently, she’s been recording and performing country music and appeared at the Grand Ole Opry.

Clock

Clues: She was the belle of the ball. Disco ball. Everyone knew my name. Trends changed. And she became frozen in time. She reinvented herself and found fame again. She performed for a president.

Performance: Piano Man by Billy Joel – Wow. She sounds like an older person. Not a conventionally good singer? Or maybe that’s her age? She sounds kind of Broadway. The internets are going to guess this one, because she’s obviously a classic. On Stage Clue: “Vienna” the song is the clue. “Vienna is all about seizing the day, and I have a day in my name.” Jenny guesses Anita Baker. Nooooo. Robin guesses Evelyn Champagne King. Ken guesses Diana Ross. Uhm. No.

Prediction: LOTS of fans are saying Clock is Bette Midler, and after listening to her performance again, I think they are on to something.

Spaghetti & Meatballs

Clues: Not a duo mask! He’s worn many different hats. He started out on Wall Street. He raced after the dough in an whole new industry. He mastered the secret recipe. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DITCH THE FAKE ITALIAN ACCENT I’M BEGGING YOU.

Performance: “Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel – Now, with that intro, one might expect a bad singer. Started on Wall Street? But he can carry a tune and perform. His clues didn’t indicate he’s a singer or actor now. On Stage Clue: “Show Time” He says, “I spend a good portion of my time on a hit show.” Rita guesses Gordon Ramsay. Nah. Jenny guesses Guy Fieri. Did he work on Wall Street? Robin guesses Stanley Tucci.

Lizard

Clues: Some label him a bad boy. but it’s not the real him. He met the love of his life. She was an uptown girl. She threatened to divorce him. But she was pregnant, and he changed his life. He’s a cool dad.

Performance: “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel – He can carry a tune, but he doesn’t perform like a professional singer. He might be an actor or comedian. He’s funny on stage. On Stage Clue: “Billboards” He says “I’ve had a number one billboard and I’m not talking about Time Square.” Ken guesses Michael Bivins. Jenny guesses a New Edition guy. Robin guesses Ray Jay.

Prediction: The consensus seems to be that Lizard is Sisqo who had one big hit, “Thong Song.”

First Result – Smackdown performance

The two singers with the least amount of voted dueling in the Smackdown is….Spaghetti & Meatballs and Lizard. Poodle Moth and Clock move on to the next round. The two sing “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song” each in their own styles. Both are marginal singers. Either one could go. Lizard is a more entertaining stage performer, and his riffs at the end were ambitious. Rita and Robin think they now know who Lizard is.

A celebrity is UNMASKED

The singer advancing in the competition is…Lizard. Spaghetti and Meatballs is eliminated. Final guesses. Robin: Stanley Tucci. Jenny: Guy Fieri. Rita: Gordon Ramsay Ken: Bobby Flay. Spaghetti and Meatballs is Joe Bastianich. He’s a MasterChef judge. Good lord. You offended your people with that horrible Italian accent. I barely know who this is. He says singing has always been a passion. Not bad for an amateur, actually. (I looked it up. His people are Italian, but they are from an area that is now Croatia/former Yugoslavia)
