The Masked Singer 10 Week 10 Recap Soundtrack to My Life: Find Out Who Was Unmasked!
Tonight, for week 9 of season 10, The Masked Singer celebrates the theme “Soundtrack to My Life.” Group C returns for their final night of competition before the finale
Nick Cannon is host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger sit on the judges panel.
This week’s episode features celebrity masks Candelabra, Donut and Anteater. TWO celebrities will be unmasked by the end of the night. Next week, it’s the 2 hour Season Finale!
Candelabra
Clues: She was in a relationship for a long time. They had a child. But, unfortunately, she couldn’t trust him. So, she walked away. A hand of cards–a Royal Flush–are a clue.
Performance: “I’m Going Down” by Mary J. Blige – Candelabra is obviously a singer. She brings all the soulful vibes to the stage and she knows how to move. On Stage Clue: Its a mixtape! “Party Jams” is the clue “Nicole I’ll never forget the fun we had partying at an industry party.” Nicole guesses Keyshia Cole (DING DING DING. It is). Nicole and Keyshia were both signed to the same label at one point. Ken guesses Chili because she partied with Nicole at the IHeartRadio concert. Robin guesses Dawn Richards.
Anteater
Clues: He’s short. He’s a left handed guitar player and was influenced by the early pioneers. The clues have consistently pointed to an older rock star.
Performance: Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry – Anteater is singing like he’s got a throat full of rocks. He needs a lozenge. Too bad he can’t play guitar while he sings. Regardless, Anteater is mustering plenty of energy as he lumbers around in that huge costume. On Stage Clue: “Deep Thoughts” is the clue “I had the greatest conversation when I was talking to Jenny.” Ken guesses Paul Stanley from KISS. Hey Ken! The red lips “Kiss” clue has nothing to do with the band. It points to the Hall and Oates song, “Kiss on My List.”. Robin guesses Jackson Browne. AS IF Jackson Browne would compete on The Masked Singer. NOPITY NOPE. Jenny guesses Steven Van Zandt. LOL. They are never going to guess this one. (It’s John Oates).
Donut
Clues: He sang “Georgia on My Mind” with Ray Charles on TV. A dragon is a clue.
Performance: Georgia on My Mind by Ray Charles- Donut sounds decent here. And if the rumors are true, Donut isn’t most famous for being a singer. Between this performance, and the heart tugging story about losing his wife recently, he’ll at least make the Battle Royale. Ken gets all teary saying that he believes Donut’s wife is watching him from above. On Stage Clue “Poker Night” is the clue. “Robin, this mixtape was on repeat every time I hung out with your dear sweet dad.” Robin says his dad knew everybody. He guesses Tom Jones. Robin says near the end of his dad’s life, he grew close to Tom. But it does not sound like the great Tom Jones at all. Jenny guesses John Schneider. DING DING DING. That’s who it is. Nicole guesses Engelbert Humperdinck who also sang with Ray Charles.
First Result – Who is Unmasked?
The first singer getting unmasked tonight is…Anteater! Final guesses: Robin: Jackson Browne Nicole: John Mellencamp Ken: Billy Joel (WTF?) Jenny: Steven Van Zandt. NEGATORY! And the Anteater is…John Oates! Jenny says “I cannot believe we did not get that!” Nick quips, “from Maneater to Anteater.” Ken is star struck. John says it was one of the best things he’s ever done and really enjoyed singing anonymously, able to sing anything he liked. Unfortunately, he did not sing again before leaving the stage.
Hunter Hayes aka Astronaut takes the stage to sing the Battle Royale song “Wanted.” This song totally favors Donut.
Battle Royale
Donut is first and sings a trembly and vulnerable version of “Wanted.” At this point, the audience is totally on Donut’s side. It will be shocking if the panel picks Candelabra. It’s not in her style. Yet, she delivers the superior vocal. So hold up–maybe she will win the battle! Hunter thanks both celebrities for singing his song. “It was an honor to hear it,” he says.
2nd Elimination – Who was unmasked?
The winner of the Battle Royale is…Donut. Ugh! Candelabra is a better singer and performer. ROBBED I TELLS YA. Nicole apologizes for not having the bell to save her. Final guesses. Nicole: Keyshia Cole Ken: Kelly Rowland. Jenny: Brandy. Robin: Keyshia Cole. He’s switching his guess after thinking about it. And Candelabra is Keyshia Cole. “I lost to a donut!” she jokes. “No…he’s somebody spectacular,” she says of Donut. Keyshia sings out with her performance song, “I’m Going Down.”
Donut is predicted to be John Schneider, the Dukes of Hazzard Star. These days, he stars in weird right-wing movies. In one, called “To Die For,” he cries the entire time about flying the American Flag, insisting that he’s willing to die over his right to wave old glory. As if in reality, anyone would try to stop him. Clue: Here’s John Schneider singing “Georgia” with Ray Charles on a television special.
