The premiere ratings for The Four: Battle for Stardom, the new competitive singing show from FOX, could have been worse. But they also could have been better. As TVByTheNumbers notes, the number was well below American Idol performance, even at the show’s nadir. However, I suspect FOX execs would point out that The Four is far less expensive to produce than American Idol.
“The Four” delivered a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, an improvement over the “Gotham”-“The Orville” combo from the fall, which typically drew a 0.9-1.0 on Thursdays. It’s well below even the smallest “American Idol” average when it was on FOX, but in the context of this season it’s not bad.
