Tonight the teams will fly to Sofia, Bulgaria. All teams will be on the same flight. This will also be a self-driving leg. Additionally, there will be a Double U-Turn in play.
The teams land in Bulgaria. They sprint to a parking garage and jump into their cars. They learn their next destination: Negushevo. Jonathan & Ana arrive there first. They reach the clue box and learn they have a task to complete together. They must fill a crate with apples and do a Kukeri offering. Alyssa & Josiah are right behind Jonathan & Ana. They are the first teams to begin and finish the task.
Jonathan & Ana and Alyssa & Josiah get their next clue. The next destination is Osoitsa Village Library. After they leave, Brett & Mark arrive and complete the Kukeri offering. Meanwhile, the other teams are struggling with driving themselves to Negushevo. Nick & Mike ask for directions, and Carson & Jack are lost driving.
Jonathan & Ana arrive at the library first. They find their clue and learn they have a Detour to complete: Haystack or Woodstack. Haystack requires teams to find a red and white adornment inside a haystack. Woodstack requires teams to use a wheelbarrow and backpack to transport 400 lbs. of wood. Alyssa & Josiah arrive afterwards. Both teams choose Haystack. Meanwhile, Carson & Jack are still lost driving while Han & Holden and Melinda & Erika complete the Kukeri offering.
Brett & Mark arrive at the library. They choose the Woodstack Detour. Meanwhile, Nick & Mike complete the Kukeri offering as Jonathan & Ana arrive at the Haystack Detour. While working, Brett & Mark arrive and get started on the Woodstack Detour. While searching, Jonathan feels frustrated that Ana wanted to do the Haystack Detour. He thinks the Woodstack Detour would’ve been the better choice.
Alyssa & Josiah arrive and join Jonathan & Ana at the Haystack Detour. Brett & Mark are strong guys, so they’re having success carrying all the firewood required. Soon enough, Alyssa finds the adornment. She and Josiah get their next clue. They learn they must proceed to Sarantisi Church. They also learn they have a Double U-Turn ahead. After they leave, Jonathan keeps saying they should’ve done the other Detour.
Brett & Mark need to do a second trip to finish the Detour. Meanwhile, Melinda & Erika arrive at the library. They choose the Haystack Detour. Han & Holden can’t find the correct library. Nick & Mike and Carson & Jack are still lost.
Ana finally finds the adornment. She and Jonathan get their next clue. They can make their way to Sarantisi Church. Alyssa & Josiah arrive there first, and they choose not to U-Turn anyone. They read their next clue and learn they must make their way to Snezha’s Farm.
Han & Holden finally arrive at the library. They choose the Woodstack Detour. Jonathan & Ana arrive at the Double U-Turn board. They choose not to U-Turn anyone. Meanwhile, Brett & Mark complete the Detour and choose not to U-Turn anyone either.
Jonathan & Ana get their car stuck in a ditch, and Brett & Mark try to help them out. They can’t push the car out, and Jonathan tells them to just go ahead. Locals in the neighborhood also try to assist Jonathan & Ana with their car trouble too. While they’re still stuck, Melinda & Erika get started on the Haystack Detour.
Jonathan & Ana are still stuck by the time Nick & Mike finally arrive. They chose the Woodstack Detour. A local ties Jonathan & Ana’s car to another car with a rope to pull it out of the ditch. Jonathan & Ana can finally leave.
Melinda & Erika are still working on the Haystack Detour while Han & Holden and Nick & Mike are working on the Woodstack Detour. Carson & Jack are still lost.
Alyssa & Josiah arrive at Snezha’s Farm. They learn they have a Roadblock to complete. One team member must milk a sheep. The milk will be used to make Bulgarian yogurt. Alyssa chooses to do the Roadblock. Melinda & Erika, Han & Holden, and Nick & Mike are still working on their Detours.
Alyssa completes milking the sheep. She must eat some Bulgarian yogurt before receiving her next clue. Alyssa & Josiah can now proceed to the Pit Stop: Elin Pelin.
Carson & Jack finally arrive at Negushevo and do the Kukeri offering. Meanwhile, Brett & Mark arrive at the Roadblock. Mark ends up doing the milking task. Nick & Mike finally complete the Woodstack Detour at the same time Melinda & Erika finally complete the Haystack Detour. Han & Holden complete the Haystack Detour too. Which of these teams will reach the Double U-Turn first?
Melinda & Erika reach the Double U-Turn board and choose to U-Turn Nick & Mike. Nick & Mike reach the U-Turn and choose to U-Turn Han & Holden. Melinda & Erika can proceed to their next location while Nick & Mike and Han & Holden must complete the Haystack Detour now.
Mark completes the Roadblock. He and Brett can now proceed to the Pit Stop. After they leave, Jonathan & Ana arrive. Ana chooses to do the Roadblock. After she gets started, we see Alyssa & Josiah arrive at the Pit Stop. Phil gives them the good news. Alyssa & Josiah are Team #1! They have also won a trip to Marrakesh, Morocco.
Ana completes the Roadblock next. She and Jonathan can proceed to the Pit Stop. Melinda & Erika get lost on the way to the Pit Stop while Nick & Mike and Han & Holden are still working on the Haystack Detour. Meanwhile, Carson & Jack finally arrive at the library. They choose the Haystack Detour.
Han & Holden complete the Haystack Detour. They can proceed to the Pit Stop now. After they leave, we next see Brett & Mark arrive at the Pit Stop as Team #2 and Jonathan & Ana arrive later as Team #3. Holden gets to work on the Roadblock while Nick & Mike are still searching for the adornment. Nick & Mike ponder taking a penalty just as Carson & Jack arrive.
Carson & Jack are surprised to see Nick & Mike there, considering they were three hours ahead of them. Carson & Jack were going to do the Haystack Detour, but they switch after seeing how difficult the task is for Nick & Mike. Meanwhile, Holden completes the Roadblock as Melinda gets started on it. She also completes the Roadblock while Nick & Mike and Carson & Jack are still at the Detour location.
Han & Holden greet Phil as Team #4 as Carson & Jack complete the Woodstack Detour. We next see Melinda & Erika greet Phil as Team #5. Carson & Jack are shocked to see they were not U-Turned. Carson completes the Roadblock, and they later greet Phil as Team #6.
Phil goes to Nick & Mike at the Haystack Detour. Nick says they’ve been there for six hours, and Phil says he’s putting them out of their misery. Nick & Mike have been eliminated from the race.
