America’s Got Talent Feud: Terry Crews Responds to Gabrielle Union’s Clap Back
Terry Crews believes women. Well, he believes one woman. His wife Rebecca.
After Gabrielle Union shaded him on Twitter after he delivered a full throated defense of NBC and America’s Got Talent on the Today show, the AGT host responded with with a tweet. “There is only one woman one earth I have to please,” wrote Terry. “Her name is Rebecca. Not my mother, my sister, my daughters or co-workers. I will let their husbands/ boyfriends/ partners take care of them. Rebecca gives me WINGS.”
Alongside a bunch of paternalistic drivel (I will let their husbands/ boyfriends/ partners take care of them…), Terry basically hides behind his wife. And it’s a pretty lame response.

Gabrielle Union Controversy: Terry Crews Backs NBC
“First of all, I can’t speak for sexism, because I’m not a woman. But I can speak on behalf of any racism comments. That was never my experience on America’s Got Talent,” Terry responded when the Today show hosts asked him to weigh in on the Gabrielle Union controversy. “In fact, it was the most diverse place I have ever been in my 20 years of entertainment.” Terry continued, “The Top 10 acts were Asian, women, older younger, black, white. It was everything in the gammet.”
Was Terry calling Gabrielle a liar? Well. He skirted the issue. “Gabrielle Union has not made any statement to this day about any of these allegations publically,” Actually, when reports surfaced detailing racism and a toxic set environment, Gabrielle did not refute them. In fact, she ended up meeting with NBC brass to sort out her complaints. She was keeping quiet while NBC pursues an investigation.
Terry insisted that he always believes women. Weirdly, to back up that claim, Terry told Today that he asked his wife for advice on the matter. “If [Gabrielle] hasn’t made a statement, why would you?” she told him. At that point, Terry considered himself totally off the hook.
Gabrielle Union Responds Angrily to Terry Crews
Welp. After Terry’s statement, Gabrielle decided to break her silence. And yup. She was mad.
“Why anyone would gleefully get up on TV and tell lies that NO ONE disputed… But we already know.” Gabrielle posted on Twitter.
“Truth telling, wanting change & having MULTIPLE witnesses who bravely came forward to let EVERYONE know I didn’t lie or exaggerate, really exposes those who enthusiastically will throw you under the bus, forgetting quickly who stepped up 4 THEIR truth,” she added
Gabrielle continued, “Can someone please ask abt what happens to all that diversity folks are talking about BEHIND THE SCENES. Like, legit… where the hell is all that diversity in the production though homie? In the decision making ranks who control the fate of the diversity in front of the camera?
Let’s also talk about where the diversity is in the hair & makeup dept for contestants that DOES NOT reflect all that diversity that hits the stage. Let’s Google the exec’s that run the show & ask follow up ?? about THAT egregious lack of diversity. Let’s discuss the facts”
During his Today show interview, Terry stressed the importance of believing women. But when it came to crossing the network overlords, Terry disingenuously pulled his punches. No wonder Gabrielle was mad.
Twitter Not Happy with Terry Crews
Twitter folks were quick to point out that when he told his own MeToo story, it was black women like Gabrielle Union who stuck up for him.
as a fan, survivor & someone who’s had the opportunity to work with you, this hurts. a lot. i hope you’re able to take time away from twitter to fully understand why this response is so unproductive. asking for solidarity during times of mistreatment isn’t asking to be “pleased”

i was proud to stand in solidarity with you when you bravely shared your story as a survivor. i didn’t do it to “please” you. it was the right thing to do. doing the right thing, isn’t about anyone else’s feelings. it’s about being true to your morals, especially when it’s hard

Yo man, you don't honor your wife by using her as a shield to avoid responsibility for throwing other Black women under a bus.
