It was old home week at the American Idol farewell season panel at Friday’s FOX Television Critics Association tour in Pasadena, CA. A slew of winners and a runner-up attended the event to answer reporters’ questions, including Ruben Studdard (s2), Jordin Sparks (s6), David Cook (s7), Kris Allen (s8), Scotty McCreery (s10), Lauren Alaina (s10 runner-up) and Nick Fradiani (s14).
Host Ryan Seacrest, judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., mentor Scott Borchetta and executive producer Trish Kinane were also in attendance to field questions from the press.
Big American Idol news came out of the panel: Kelly Clarkson will guest judge the first of the live shows, and alum will return for the middle rounds to sing duets with the Top 24. There will be more alum appearances, to be announced. Also, the cast speculated on whether the beloved singing competition could return after a rest. And hopefully, Simon Cowell can take a minute out of his busy America’s Got Talent schedule to make it to the finale at least.
