Great news for So You Think You Can Dance fans. Nigel Lythgoe tweeted today, “FOX has picked up #SYTYCD for it’s 9th season, it was announced today by Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox. [HOORAY].”

Nigel Lythgoe has started a new production company, Nigel Lythgoe Productions. A joint venture with Idol’s 19 Entertainment, through the new company, Nigel has projects “in various stages of development” at E!, TruTV and CBS, among other networks, including reality shows with heavy metal icon Alice Cooper, Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, sex and relationship expert Dr. Laura Berman and executive producer Kim Kardashian.
Ahhhh. The bitch fight between Simon Cowell and Simon Fuller/Nigel Lythgoe continues. LOVES IT. In a new cover story for The Hollywood Reporter, Simon reveals how he feels about some of the goss thrown his way by Idol peeps *coughnigellythgoecough* and the pending lawsuit against Fox and Freemantle media by Simon Fuller for X Factor producer credit.
Nigel Lythgoe met with advertisers in New York City today, and Zap2it.com caught up with him to discuss American Idol and the current season of So You Think You Think You Can Dance which has its Season finale Thursday August 11.
Nigel wants to change the Idol voting system to “one device, one vote”–whatever that means. This isn’t the first time Nigel has mentioned changing the voting. He’s also expressed an interest in allowing the judges more control over who gets sent home.
