Survivor Season 48 Week 7 Recap
The episode begins with the castaways returning to camp after tribal council. They were divided into three groups due to the Blood Moon twist. The group that voted Kamilla out returns first. Tiffany is upset, but she stays composed. In her confessional, she vents her frustration and is determined for revenge.
The group that voted out Genevieve returns next. Aubry didn’t play her hidden immunity idol since Genevieve’s Shot in the Dark attempt was unsuccessful. Aubry tells Rick she just forgot to play her hidden immunity idol. Rick doesn’t believe that. He knows Aubry just wanted to hold onto her idol, so he’s annoyed that she gives such a stupid lie. Rick lets Christian know what Aubry said, and Christian doesn’t believe she forgot to play it either. Christian tells everyone else that Aubry claims she forgot to play it. In her confessional, Aubry is aware that she is receiving heat. Aubry says it’s a wake up call.
The group that voted out Colby returns third. Coach says Colby had an honorable sendoff. He wants to carry the torch for him. Jonathan and Coach lament Colby’s elimination since their Four Horseman alliance with Joe is now down to three. Coach is unhappy that Dee considered voting for him. Jonathan and Coach agree that there’s a line drawn in the sand.
The next morning, Tiffany and Dee catch each other up. Dee isn’t happy that Jonathan flipped. Coach tells Dee that he is unhappy that she’s been lying, but Dee asks what she lied about. While talking to Coach, Jonathan approaches them. Dee and Jonathan get into an argument about lying. Dee claims that she hasn’t lied, but Jonathan points out that she lied to him when Charlie was blindsided. Other tribe members overhear their argument. In his confessional, Jonathan admits he wanted to rile up Dee. He wants a target on Dee’s back; he’s gunning for her. Afterwards, Coach says Dee is lying. He says the winner won’t be someone who lies and doesn’t play with integrity. Behind his back, Emily calls Coach a hypocrite. She says he’s a liar like everybody else.
Ozzy and Rizo return from Exile Island. They learn about the Blood Moon twist. Afterwards, Coach pulls Rizo aside and recruits him into the Four Horsemen alliance with him, Jonathan, and Joe. He tells Rizo that he will be replacing Colby. Rizo plays along, but he knows he’s just being used as a number. Later, Rizo solidifies his actual alliance with Cirie and Ozzy.
Later, Emily tells Rizo that Dee told her he has an idol. Rizo asks Dee about this afterwards. Dee denies ever saying anything about Rizo’s idol to anyone. However, we see flashbacks to Dee telling Emily, Tiffany, and Jonathan on various occasions that Rizo has a hidden immunity idol. Dee admits she was “messy.”
A boat arrives to camp. One person will go on a Journey. After a random draw, Stephenie will go on the Journey. She arrives and learn she has a challenge to complete. She must tether an arm to a bucket above her while balancing on a perch. After an hour, a pot will drop. If she lasts an hour with dropping her arm or falling off the perch, then she will win an advantage. If she drops, then she loses her vote. The challenge begins. Stephenie dislocated her shoulder back in Heroes vs Villains, so she has to use her less dominant arm. She’s unsure if she can do this. However, she stays motivated and successfully completes it. She wins a Steal-a-Vote advantage.
Stephenie returns to camp. She comes up with a lie. She admits she played for an advantage, but she says she can keep her vote if she lasts 30 minutes instead of an hour. She says she only lasted thirty minutes, so she kept her vote even if she didn’t get the advantage. Cirie knows she’s lying. Cirie and Stephenie go to the well, and Stephenie can tell Cirie doesn’t believe her. Stephenie comes clean to Cirie. She tells her about the Steal-a-Vote advantage. Stephenie believes her secret is safe with Cirie. However, the scene cuts to Cirie telling Rizo about Stephenie’s advantage. Cirie tells Rizo that this information cannot get out. Rizo tells Cirie about Dee spilling the beans about his hidden immunity idol. Cirie and Rizo discuss the idea of voting out Dee at this upcoming vote.
It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be divided into two teams. They must roll a boulder through a series of obstacles and collect keys. At the end there is a platform they must pull themselves onto. Two tribe members will complete a puzzle. The first group to finish will win a Chinese food reward. The winning group will also compete in a second challenge for immunity. There will be a schoolyard pick for teams.
Purple Team – Jonathan, Cirie, Chrissy, Rizo, Tiffany, Coach, and Aubry
Blue Team – Christian, Ozzy, Rick, Emily, Dee, Stephenie, and Joe
The challenge is fairly even, and it’s a showdown at the puzzle. Both teams only have a few pieces left, but it is the Blue Team that completes the puzzle first. The Blue Team wins the Chinese food reward! Christian, Ozzy, Rick, Emily, Dee, Stephenie, and Joe will compete for individual immunity next.
It’s an endurance challenge. They must balance on a narrow beam while balancing a ball on a pole. If they drop from the beam or drop their ball, then they are eliminated from the challenge. The last person standing will win immunity. The challenge begins, and Rick drops his ball almost right away. The remaining competitors advance to the second round. They must step on a narrower part of the beam. Emily is the second person to drop her ball. Christian drops his ball during the second transition to a narrower part of the beam. Stephenie drops her ball next. Dee drops her ball in the final transition. It’s now down between Joe and Ozzy. Joe’s ball drops. Ozzy wins immunity!
The castaways return to camp. While half of them enjoy their Chinese food, the other half discuss the vote. Chrissy says she’s heard Dee and Aubry’s names as options. Tiffany doesn’t want Dee to go. She says Dee is a shield for everyone since she’s a former winner. She doesn’t want to harm her game to save Dee, so Tiffany says her back is against the wall. Meanwhile, Aubry says she’s going to play her hidden immunity idol to get the target off of her. She thinks once her idol is gone, then she won’t be on the chopping block anymore.
Later, Coach, Chrissy, and Jonathan discuss splitting the votes. Coach and Jonathan agree to make Tiffany the backup option. Coach takes the lead and tells a group of people whom to vote for. Coach doesn’t want any of the “middle people” like Christian to know about the split vote plan. Rick tells Christian about the plan, and Christian later tells Coach he knows about 7-4 plan. Coach didn’t want Christian to know about the vote split, and he’s angry. He wants to know who leaked the plan, but Rick doesn’t admit to it.
Coach later vents his frustration to Rizo, and Rizo points out that Rick is one of the “middle people” too. In his confessional, Rizo is flabbergasted at Coach’s gameplay. Coach is rubbing people the wrong way, and Emily and Rick wonder if they can turn it around and vote out Coach. Tiffany, Dee, and Ozzy say they would be on board to vote out Coach, but can they get enough numbers?
It’s time for tribal council. Jeff first asks about the fallout from the Blood Moon twist. Emily admits there were arguments around the camp. Jonathan says there is a line in the sand now, and he thinks the line will last. Jeff points out there are 14 people at tribal council. Rick says it’s wild to get this amount of people on the same page. Joe says it’s easy to figure out plans at a firehouse since they work together. Cirie points out that they are not coworkers and there is a hierarchy at a firehouse. Everyone has his or her own game.
Dee says she knows her name is out there, but she says there are people in the game that haven’t chosen a side. She says they are scarier and she can be used as a number. Jonathan asks Dee if she’s only lied to him. Dee says they all have lied. Jonathan says he knows about all the lies Dee has told. Rizo says you should play fearless, but it is a team sport at this point in the game. Suddenly, Dee gets up and whispers to Aubry and Ozzy to vote for Coach. She claims she has the numbers. There are more whispers among the castaways. Dee tries to confirm numbers to vote out Coach, but was she successful? Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.
We see Tiffany vote for Coach and Coach vote for Tiffany. But who will be voted out?
Before Jeff reads the votes, Aubry plays her hidden immunity idol on herself. Any votes cast for Aubry will not count. In addition, Dee plays her Shot in the Dark advantage. Jeff opens the scroll. It says “Not Safe.” Any votes for Dee will still count.
The first vote is for…
