Survivor Season 36 Ghost Island Week 3 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: Ghost Island airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The Naviti tribe returns to camp after tribal council. Domenick and Wendell were disappointed by the result, but Angela is especially hurt that her former tribe members wrote her name down. Domenick and Wendell lament the fact that they have made enemies with everybody on the tribe. They acknowledge they only have each other before Domenick admits to Wendell that he has a hidden immunity idol. Wendell is excited to learn this as it gives them hope on this tribe. He says they have to make the smartest play. The next morning, Domenick notices the Legacy Advantage that was willed to him by Morgan. “Just a great moment for me,” Domenick says. He says he wants every advantage possible.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will compete in the water as they try to retrieve a ring and bring it back to a flag pole. During the challenge, the opposing tribe will try to hinder them. The person that is holding on to both the ring and the flagpole at the same time will win a point for his or her tribe. The first tribe to three points will win reward, which is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich meal. The challenge begins, and Chris easily scores the first point for Naviti. The second round begins, and Laurel and Jenna battle it out for the ring as Angela and Kellyn join the fray. Laurel gets close to touching the flagpole, but it is Angela who scores the second point for Naviti. The third round begins, and Sebastian is the first to the ring and he tosses it to Bradley. Soon, it becomes a battle as James and Domenick try to pull the ring away, but Sebastian and Bradley manage to score the first point for Malolo. The fourth round begins with Libby, Laurel, Desiree, and Stephanie competing. Libby touches the flagpole first. Naviti wins reward! Afterwards, Malolo draws rocks to decide who will go to Ghost Island. After expressing how she fears going to Ghost Island, Kellyn drrew the white rock as everyone else drew a black rock. Kellyn will go to Ghost Island.

Kellyn arrives, and she admits being on an island alone is her biggest fear. She breaks the urn, and she learns she will get the chance to compete for an advantage today. It is a game of chance. If she picks correctly, she will win a reward. If she picks incorrectly, then she will lose her vote at an upcoming tribal council. Kellyn decides not to play for the advantage. She doesn’t want to risk losing her vote.

At the Naviti tribe, Angela informs Chris what happened at the last vote. She said “her own family” slit her throat, and Chris now wants to join forces with the former Malolo tribe members with Angela to target Domenick. Afterwards, we see Donathan and Laurel talk game. They say the plan is to split the votes between Domenick and Wendell, but Laurel admits she likes Wendell better than Chris. She doesn’t like how Chris is calling the shots either. Later, we see Laurel approach Domenick. She wants to work with him, and Domenick admits to her that he has an idol. She tells Domenick that she and Donathan could join forces with him and Wendell, which Domenick is happy to hear.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will swim to a bamboo cage, climb over it, and then swim underneath it to untie a door. They will then have to drag a chest to a beach, place it on a track, and then unlock it to retrieve balls. They will then have to toss the balls to land on a narrow beam. The first tribe to land all their balls on the beam will win immunity. The challenge begins, and Malolo takes an early lead opening the cage door before Naviti does. Malolo is dragging the cage to the beach before Naviti finally opens the door. Malolo remains in the lead by the time they start tossing the balls on the beam. Sebastian and Brendan gets three balls on their beam before Naviti even starts tossing balls. However, Brendan accidentally knocks down a ball before he gets another ball on the beam. Sebastian and Brendan land a fourth ball, meaning they only need to land one more ball. However, they struggle landing the last ball as Naviti catches up. Naviti is making a huge comeback as it eventually becomes even with both tribes trying to land their last ball, and it’s Chris who lands the fifth ball for Naviti. Naviti wins immunity!

The Malolo tribe returns to camp after the immunity challenge. Bradley is feeling good since the former Naviti have the numbers, so he’s confident the vote will go their way tonight. Chelsea, Kellyn, Desiree, Bradley, and Sebastian discuss who to vote out, and Michael and Brendan are the names being thrown out. Meanwhile, Michael and Brendan discuss what to do. They both feel like their names are on the chopping block. Michael found a hidden immunity idol in the last episode, so they are aware that’s a card they can play tonight. Michael then tells Jenna and Stephanie about his hidden immunity idol. Michael says he’ll pull out the hidden immunity idol during tribal council to get someone to flip. He also wants them to vote for Bradley.

At tribal council, Jeff first points out how the former Naviti has the numbers 5 – 4. Sebastian agrees, and Desiree says it was awkward at the camp tonight since one of the original Malolo tribe members know they will be voted out tonight. Stephanie says Bradley has his own little alliance, and Bradley makes a joke about babysitting them. Brendan comments how Bradley would never take Sebastian to the end of the game, and the Malolo says Sebastian and Chelsea are on the outs of the five former Naviti alliance. Kellyn says the original Malolo are just desperate, and nothing is going to flip the alliance of five. However, Michael pulls out his hidden immunity idol. He claims it’s an idol that can be used on two people (which is a lie), and he will play it tonight. He gives Sebastian and Chelsea the chance to flip to their side, and Bradley and his allies are visibly worried. Sebastian is even torn what to do as Michael continues to plead to him and Chelsea to flip to their side. Afterwards, it’s time to vote.

Before Jeff reads the votes, Michael plays his hidden immunity idol on Stephanie.
