Survivor Season 36 Ghost Island Week 12 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: Ghost Island airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins with the tribe returning to camp. Kellyn says it was a rough night and she’s disappointed the new alliance did not work out. She’s aware she’s now on the bottom of the tribe, but she hopes people will come to her with a plan. She says it’s hard to work around being on the bottom, but she’ll see what she can do tomorrow.

The next morning, Donathan and Laurel talk game. They don’t know what to do next. Laurel does not trust Angela and Kellyn, but she’s aware how big of threats Wendell and Domenick are. She and Donathan agree this could be the last chance to make a move against them. Laurel says the problem is that they are her best friends and they looked out for her throughout the game. Donathan wants to at least try to make a move. In a confessional, Donathan says it’s frustrating how Laurel keeps changing her mind. He’s considering playing by himself if Laurel continues to be unwilling to make a move. Later, Donathan talks to Kellyn about taking out Wendell. He says she can’t tell anyone. Kellyn says it’s music to her ears. Donathan feels he is underestimated. He’s done with Domenick and Wendell being the top dogs.

It’s time for the reward challenge. Divided into three teams of two, they must drop wooden spools onto a track. They must catch the spool before it hits the ground. The pairs must work together to go up and down steps to take the spool back to the top of the track. As the challenge progresses, they will have to add additional spools. If a spool falls to the ground, they are eliminated from the challenge. For reward, they will visit a school as ambassadors and enjoy a meal. They also drew for captains to determine the pairs.

Kellyn chose Sebastian.

Wendell chose Domenick.

Donathan chose Laurel.

Angela was not chosen and won’t have a chance at the reward. The challenge begins, and all the pairs are working together to keep the spools from falling to the ground. Eventually, they all have five spools on their tracks. Kellyn and Sebastian are the first pair eliminated after Sebastian fails to catch a spool. Afterwards, Laurel fails to catch a spool too. Wendell and Domenick win reward. They are allowed to pick one person to come along, and they choose Laurel. They also choose to send Sebastian to Ghost Island.

At Ghost Island, Sebastian predicts the advantages will get more powerful. He compares himself to a remora. He’s been attached to Wendell and Domenick like remoras attach themselves to bigger fish. However, he says the game is almost over and it’s time to become a shark. He gets the chance to risk his vote for an advantage. He gets a 3/4 chance at winning an advantage, and he goes for it. He wins the Steal A Vote Advantage. Instead of stealing someone’s vote, he’ll get the chance to cast an extra vote just like Kellyn. The note even mentions how Kellyn misplayed this advantage when Michael was voted out. Sebastian is excited to have won this advantage. Meanwhile, Wendell, Domenick, and Laurel enjoy their reward together. They agree to go to the end of the game together.

Later, Donathan talks candidly with Wendell back at camp. Donathan tells Wendell that he is voting for Domenick to win, and he knows he’ll be a juror anyway. Donathan hopes he’ll be able to turn them against each other. Wendell and Domenick are bothered by Donathan’s statement. Domenick says that Donathan is blowing up their games.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They must use wooden boards to assemble a bridge they must go across. The bridge is a puzzle as only certain pieces will fit in certain spots. After they cross the bridge, they must use planks to build a ladder to climb up to a slide puzzle. The first to complete the slide puzzle will win immunity. The challenge begins, and Wendell takes the lead. He’s closely followed by Sebastian at the ladder building portion of the challenge. After they have started on their ladders, Laurel and Domenick cross their bridges to begin building their ladders too. As Kellyn joins them, Wendell completes his ladder and begins assembling his puzzle. Angela and Donathan are still behind at the bridge portion, but Donathan finally completes his bridge as Laurel and Sebastian are working on the puzzle too. Domenick soon gets to the slide puzzle too. As Wendell completes the puzzle, Laurel finishes it shortly afterwards. However, since Laurel called out Jeff’s name before Wendell did, Jeff declares Laurel the winner. Wendell points out how he completed the puzzle first, but Jeff reminds him that he needed to let him know for the win to count. The ruling stands: Laurel wins immunity.

When they return to camp, Laurel decides she wants to vote out Kellyn. She admits the big move would be to vote out Wendell, but she says it wouldn’t feel right since Wendell technically should’ve won immunity tonight. However, Wendell and Domenick are bothered by Donathan’s demeanor. They still plan to vote out Kellyn though. But after Donathan sees Domenick hand Wendell something, he calls them out and asks what it was. They tell him it was nothing and he can even go through their bags. Donathan is now worried they plan to use an idol on Kellyn and take him out tonight. He rushes to Kellyn and says they should vote Domenick out tonight. At that moment, Domenick and Wendell are saying they should just vote out Donathan instead of Kellyn tonight. Kellyn says in a confessional that Donathan is too unpredictable before Domenick and Wendell consider rallying for votes to take out Donathan. They go to Angela and Sebastian by the hammock and suggest voting out Donathan.

It’s time for tribal council. Jeff starts by talking about the immunity challenge and how it shows how exhausted they are all. Domenick agrees. He says he can usually solve a slide puzzle in forty seconds, but he struggled today. Jeff brings up Wendell’s mistake at the end of the challenge, and Wendell says the game makes them less sharp as it progresses. It messes with their mental capabilities. Afterwards, Domenick hints at odd behavior coming from Donathan, and it soon turns into Domenick and Wendell venting their frustrations about Donathan. Domenick asks if he can talk to Donathan, but Donathan bluntly says no. Donathan tells Jeff he is certain he is going home tonight, but Kellyn is still concerned. Domenick and Wendell say to stick to the “hammock plan.” Kellyn says everyone has a Plan B and a Plan C, and she admits people came to her with a plan. This concerns Domenick, and we next see whispering between Wendell and Sebastian about splitting the votes. Afterwards, it’s time to vote.

Before Jeff reads the votes, no one plays an idol.

The first vote is for…

Domenick

Donathan

Kellyn

Kellyn

Donathan

Donathan

Kellyn

It’s a tie between Kellyn and Donathan. Everyone except Kellyn and Donathan must revote, and they can only vote for either Kellyn or Donathan.

Jeff reads the votes again. The first vote is for…

Donathan

Kellyn

Kellyn is voted out and the seventh member of the jury.
