Survivor 33 Millennials vs Gen X Week 2 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

The episode begins in the Gen X tribe. It’s the morning after tribal council, and we hear a confessional from Paul. He says he’s in a solid alliance, and CeCe and David are on the outs. He claims one of them will be the next person voted out. We hear a confessional from David too, and he says he is playing a “miserable” Survivor game. However, he does manage to build a fire for his tribe. His tribemates are impressed, but they assert he’s still the next one to go. David is aware he is in trouble, so he’s desperate to find the hidden immunity idol. While collecting rocks to bring back to camp, he comes across a coconut with a purple marking on it. He makes sure no one is looking before he grabs it and runs off somewhere with it alone. He cracks it open and finds a small purple package, and inside is the idol. David has found the hidden immunity idol! He is very excited and says this is what the game of Survivor is all about.

Over at the Millennials tribe, there’s a love connection forming between Taylor and Figgy. Taylor says he has love goggles on and Figgy is attracted to his blue eyes. Later that night, the two of them start making out, and the tribe overhears them. In her confessional, Michaela is disgusted by it since they’ve been living out in the wilderness and are all dirty and smelly. The tribe also thinks that Taylor and Figgy are isolating themselves and are painting a target on their backs. Jay is really bothered by it since he’s in an alliance with them and Michelle. He wants Taylor to “wake up!” He pulls Taylor aside and calls him out. He wants him to take the game seriously, and he points out that they’ll be picked off one by one if Figgy and Taylor come across as a power couple.

Back at the Gen X tribe, Ken catches an octopus. He also admits to being socially shy, but he knows he needs to make bonds with people. He talks briefly with David, and the two agree that Paul seems to be running the game. David says he trusts Ken completely, and he later shows him his hidden immunity idol. Ken promises he won’t tell anyone, and this alliance between the two of them seems solid. They also want to take Paul out of the game.

Back at the Millennials tribe, Michaela discusses in her confessional how much of a flirt Figgy is. She thinks Figgy is a threat and is becoming a big target. Michaela also comments about herself and how her facial expressions are really easy to read. We next see Figgy call Michaela out as fake. They get into a little tiff with Figgy walking away. In his confessional, Adam comments how bad Figgy’s game play is. She starts drama and is in an obvious showmance. Meanwhile in the Gen X tribe, Ken approaches CeCe and they agree they need Paul out of the game. However, it looks like Paul might be gone sooner than expected. He’s lying on the beach and his body is visibly shaking. Producers and medics have to go to his aid as they wait for the doctor. The doctor and Jeff Probst arrive at the Gen X tribe, and Jeff says a chopper is on its way. It’s looking like Paul is having a heart attack, but gets treatment. Fortunately for Paul, he’ll be okay and can continue playing the game.

It’s time for the immunity challenge! One person from each tribe will dive into the water and reach a platform where they’ll have to jump and retrieve a key. They will then use the five keys to unlock a chest with a mask to dive into the water to retrieve a ring. The first tribe to land all five rings onto their targets will win immunity. The challenge begins with Michelle and Chris going first for their tribes. After they each retrieve a key, Paul and Will go for the second keys. It’s a dead even challenge at the moment. Sunday and Michaela are the next two to go for the keys. Zeke and David are the next two to go for keys, but Millennials take a lead as David is much slower getting a key. Adam already has his key by the time David finally bring back his key. Jessica goes for the next key for Gen X. Figgy uses the keys to unlock a mask to go into the water to get a ring. CeCe is the first for Gen X to retrieve a ring as Jay dives into the water for the Millennials. CeCe is unable to get a key, so Lucy replaces her in the water. Jay gets the second ring for the Millennials and Mari is now in the water. Lucy gets the first ring for Gen X and Bret goes for the next ring. He gets his ring before Mari, and Ken dives into the water. Mari finally gets the third ring for the Millennials. It’s now a tied challenge. Taylor gets the fourth ring and Ken gets the fourth ring too. Jay and Bret each get the last ring for their tribe, and Jay starts tossing the rings. CeCe tosses the rings for Gen X. It’s a close challenge, but Ken takes over the ring tossing for CeCe, and he lands them all before Jay does. Gen X wins immunity!

Later at the Millennials tribe, the plan to blindside Figgy is being put into place. Nearly everyone is on board with the plan, but Jay is unhappy since he’s aligned with Figgy and Taylor. After he tells this to Michelle, she tells him it’s not smart to vote out an ally. She wants Mari gone instead, and they hope Figgy and Michaela can make up. Jay pulls Figgy and Michaela aside and tells them that there’s a plan for the two of them to be the first two voted out. Figgy pleads to Michaela for the two of them to work together, and Michaela is now unsure what to do. Meanwhile, Will and Michelle discuss voting out Mari, but are uncertain whether the votes are there to save Figgy.

It’s time for tribal council. The discussion starts with Mari comparing and contrasting the game of Survivor and video games. She says it’s harder once emotions are involved and she actually has to look at these people in the eyes. Zeke also discusses how everything is so good right now, but Michaela doesn’t agree. She tells Jeff that things aren’t so perfect. While Michaela is talking, Michelle whispers to Hannah that she’s voting for Mari tonight as Jay sits behind them. Hannah is shocked by this. Jeff then asks Hannah about tribe dynamics, and she mentions Taylor and Figgy’s showmance. The talk turns whether or not this showmance is a good idea for the game. Taylor and Figgy don’t think it’s a concern, but Michaela is not buying it. As Michelle, Hannah, and Jay are whispering about voting out Mari, Jeff calls them out. Hannah ends up giving an answer Jeff didn’t ask for since they were wrapped up in their own conversation. Before the vote, Jeff points out how Jay, Michelle, and Hannah are still talking. The tribe doesn’t think it’s much of a concern, and Mari says it’s just Hannah being Hannah. She’s probably just whispering about puppies. Afterwards, it’s time to vote.

We see Zeke vote for Figgy and Figgy vote for Mari. Hannah takes a long time to decide whom to vote for. She’s struggling with her decision a lot, but she finally does cast a vote.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…
