Scottish fireman Stevie McCrorie from Team Ricky Wilson, was crowned winner of The Voice UK 2015 Saturday night (4/4/15), beating out Team Will.i.am member, Irish opera singer, Lucy O’Byrne.
Stevie and Lucy prevailed over fellow finalists Sasha Simone and Emmanuel Nwamadi to become the Top 2, before performing Adam Levine’s “Lost Stars” in a final effort to win the competition. The winner’s single will be released to iTunes tonight.
As his name was read out by co-hosts Emma Willis and Marvin Humes, an emotional Stevie said: ‘I’m so lost for words right now. I can’t thank everyone enough for doing this for me.
After being named runner-up, theatre usher Lucy said, “Hopefully this will lead on to me being a singer now and not have to go back to selling ice cream… I can’t thank you enough for voting for me and will for taking me this far. It’s changed my life. Thank you.”
Sasha, a bricklayer, said to her mentor, Tom Jones after being eliminated earlier in the night, “I love you with all my heart. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and thank you for believing in me.”
Emmanuel said to his mentor, Ricky, “Thank you so much for believing in me. You’re awesome, seriously. Thank you so much.” Fellow coach, Rita Ora, did not have a team member in the Final Four.
The Voice UK winners tend to fade into instant obscurity after their wins. After listening to a few of his videos, I can’t imagine this Stevie fellow will be any different.
