Steven Tyler Reportedly Signed Idol Deal

4th Update:  Sources tell The LA Times that negotiations with Jennifer Lopez have come to an impasse, but are expected to resume soon.

3rd Update: And now, Aerosmith bassist, Tom Hamilton tells The Star-Ledger that Steven Tyler has signed a contract with Fox. “The ink is dry on that” he says, “So, we’ll have to work around his schedule for a new record.” Hamilton is worried that Tyler’s new gig will hurt the momentum the band has been building on tour, but doesn’t want to stand in his bandmate’s way.

This rumor is looking to be true.

2nd Update: Deadline Hollywood is now also confirming the Steven Tyler rumors. “I’ve just confirmed from sources close to the singer that the ‘deal is done’ for Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler to be one of the new judges despite having very little TV experience.”

Michael Ferrel, the new CEO of Idol owner, CKX, said Fox expects to announce the replacement judges shortly after Labor Day on September 6th.

Meanwhile, a deal for Season 10 is still being hammered out between CKX, FOX and Freemantle. A deal is expected late this year, or early 2011.

Jennifer Lopez is still in the running, according to Casablancas, but asking for a salary “north of 2o million dollars” plus her ownn har, makeup and styling team and “dressing room compound”.  It’s a sticking point with FOX, who are still in negotiations with some other big names.
