Here’s an interesting tidbit:
In the past, there was always an advantage to the contestants that sang on Day one in Hollywood. As they could form their group and have 2 days to rehearse. This time the rules stated that each group must contain at least one contestant from day two. LOTS of conflict came from this. A certain male top 40 contestant denied a few of the day two contestants into his group, as they wouldn’t mesh well together.
Nigel stated to the contestants that these were the best group rounds that Idol had seen. Lots of groups blew the judges away.
Songs included Maroon 5 song, a Bruno Mars song and, Forget You by Cee Lo Brown and Superwoman

- James Durbin and John Jordan Danny Pate (Nashville), Caleb Johnson (Austin) and Emma Henry (Milwaukee)are in a group
- The Guiterriez Brothers and Blake White are in a group
Jerica Blair, Lauren Alania Suddeth and Sarah Ames were in one group (Jerica and Sarah were cut in Groups)
Matthew Suyat, Erica Colon, Nick Talarico and a girl are in one group
