Here is everything you need to know about the seventh episode of Songland, airing Wednesday August 14 at 9 pm ET/PT after America’s Got Talent Results on NBC. The series is returning after a five week hiatus at a new day and time.

As always,  Four songwriters will present their tunes to the panel, hoping to have it recorded by this week’s star artist, Macklemore.

The competition features an all-star panel of songwriters and producers that include Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis “Bleeding Love,” Beyonce “Halo,” and his own hits with OneRepublic), Ester Dean (Nicki Minaj “Super Bass,” Katy Perry “Firework,” Kelly Clarkson “Mr. Know it All”) and Shane McAnally (Kacey Musgraves “Merry Go Round,” The Band Perry “Better Dig Two,” Keith Urban “Female,”).

Check out this week’s four songwriters. Actually, FIVE songwriters. Songland features its first songwriting and production duo this week…

Casey Cook – This Rhode Island native lives in Los Angeles currently. She has performed in professional theater and studied at Belmont University in Nashville.  She started off as a singer, but discovered songwriting in college. She pens songs mostly in the EDM genre. She co-wrote “Boundaries” for Eurovision contestest winner Lena Meyer-Landrut’s single which hit #2 on German iTunes. Check out her bio, interview, Facebook, a single “Grain of Salt”,

Iro – Born in Israel, but raised in California, Iro got his musical start in Europe–he lived in Berlin for a time.  The singer/songwriter signed with Universal Music Sweden/Polydore in 2015 and is described in one piece as a “NYC-based artist…compared to Milky Chance, Vance Joy and Hozier.” He’s been known to busk in NYC subways. Check out his Facebook.

Chris Jobe – Based in Nashville, Tennessee, but born in Dayton, Ohio, Chris put out the quirky Thank You Internet in 2018. The multi-instrumentalist who writes produces, and plays all of his own music, dropped an earnest follow up titled, “Lonely Lives.” Also, check out “Love in the Morning.” According to the singer/songwriter’s Facebook, “Make it All Better” is his latest single. Check out his Website. UPDATE: Ahead of Chris’ appearance, Billboard posts a new song “Make it All Better” which addresses the tragic shooting in his hometown, Dayton.

Pop Culture (Production and songwriting duo) – “Pop Culture is the creation of songwriters/producers Matthew Boda and Callan Searcy. And is an EDM/Pop duo from Kansas City. They specialize in full instrumental productions and beat-making in a wide range of styles from Future-Bass and Pop, to Trap and Dubstep. With their extensive background in songwriting and music production, their expertise in instrumentation and musicality are sure to bring your songs to life.” From the duo’s iob listing on Soundbetter. It makes sense for the show to feature a duo similar to Macklemore and Lewis.

The 11-episode series will feature artists: Jonas Brothers, John Legend, Meghan Trainor, Charlie Puth, OneRepublic, Old Dominion, will.i.am, Kelsea Ballerini, Leona Lewis, Aloe Blacc, and Macklemore. Also, check out “Backwards.
