Piers Morgan never lets us forget that Simon Cowell hired him for Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent during their chat on tonight’s Piers Morgan Tonight. But that’s a good thing–Piers name dropping acts as a disclaimer, and an explanation for the big fat softballs he throws at boss Simon Cowell throughout the lengthy interview.
Simon is there to promote his new show X Factor in the best possible light, so, don’t expect any questions about the unceremonious dumping of Cheryl Cole, or his current legal troubles with Simon Fuller.
There’s no Idol bashing–well, at least not directly. When Simon saw the initial American Idol 10 promos, promising a softer, warmer Idol, he took it personally. “They really didn’t want me back, ” Simon pouted. Now the whole pink sweater promo makes sense. Simon’s widdle feelings were hurt.
Simon would love his show–the better show–to beat American Idol in the ratings eventually.
Nicole Scherzinger joins Simon for the last two segments, and she does nothing to convince me she’s not completely empty headed. She makes Paula Abdul look like Enstein.
